I was diagnosed with HPV 14 years ago and got 'proper' treatment from the doctor, which involved painting on an acid and freezing and cutting off a particularly stubborn one.
Found the whole experience humiliating and embarrassing and hoped that would be the end of that. All seemed good for 14 years, until last month I noticed one small wart. I felt completely gutted that after all this time they were back.
Decided against going to the doctors and looked on the net for a treatment that didn't involve a third person!
Pure Tea tree oil can be very damaging to the skin - particularly in sensitive areas. I tried it and it irritated the hell out of my nether region!
After allowing the irritated skin to clear up using a gentle anti-septic cream, I got some vaseline, emptied half out and melted it by sitting the container in hot water. I added a few drops of pure tea tree oil, gave it a good mix and just applied the mix with a cotton bud directly to the wart.
It's not gone yet but it is definately shrinking. It will obviously take a bit longer due to the fact I am using a very weak solution of tea tree - but I'd rather that than using pure tea tree and hurting the hell out of myself again.
The weaker the solution, the kinder to the rest of your skin it will be (although it will always sting a little bit). There really is no point in damaging the rest of your genital area for the sake of a few warts.
On another point I have seen many web posts on various sites using words like 'eeeeh' 'urgh' 'disgusting' etc.
Lets get it into perspective - 80% of the population are affected by HPV in one form or another during their lifetimes. It's only a few little warts and while I understand first hand that it is upsetting and isolating for people, the warts wont kill you - people need to grow up and be a little more sensitive to other peoples misery!
The good news is that although I had a second outbreak after 14 years, it was only one lttle wart this time around.
I'm confident that the tea tree in vaseline will work - if you haven't any vaseline any 'kind to the skin' cream would probably work - although bear in mind I am no doctor and have no medical qualifications. I just understand how desperate and isolating it is. I wont go the doctor myself and I'm happy to try anything to get rid, but from my experience pure tea tree is way too harsh. Good Luck x
