Q: Genital Wart Treatment Recommendation Anyone?

Hello all, im a new user here. Let me give a breif background of myself:

for the past month I have noticed small bumps at the base of my shaft. I was not worried until I first noticed a couple more appear in the same area.

I immediately scheduled a checkup. Sadly, it appears I have contracted the hpv virus. I am ok with knowing that I am "stuck" with this virus for life, but would like to start exploring different methods of treatment.

The school I attend is offering liquid nitrogen removal for the cost of $25/semester. This includes as many treatments as necessary.

My main concern is that this will be painful and leave scars, therefore I am looking for other methods of treatment.

So far I have been recommended the cream aldara, which seems promising. But this cream is very expensive and far exceeds my budget.

my question for the forum's members:
--have you had any luck with any specific type of treatment?
--which type of treatment would you recommend?

--from your experience, how long have warts stayed away after use of treatment? Which treatment did you use?

Thank you all for viewing my post. Hopefully this post will not just help me, but others with this dilemma as well!

Take care,

Genital Warts Treatment
Hi there.

If your school is offering the nitrogen treatments...Take them!!! The creams are not that affective and they always seem to come back. I am female and also have the virus. The creams, even doctor precribed did not work at all. The nitrogen did and they have not returned at all in over 3 years. It was not pleasant but I wouldnt say it "hurt". But I will tell you that I heard it can be more painful for males. And as for scars, I have never noticed any, but lets be realistic here....Would you rather have a few tiny scars, or warts for the rest of your life?? Not a tough decision if you ask me! Anyways, you seem to be handling the situation rather well. Good luck and if you have any other questions, let me know. Take care.

Hello everyone,

just wanted to touch back and let eveyone know how the treatment went. I had the visible warts frozen off with liquid nitrogen....Which really was not that painful one bit. I am also applying tea tree oil 3 times everyday during the morning, noon and night. The tea tree oil is amazing. It has made those warts practically vanish. Anyone can pick this stuff up @ wal-mart for $5 a bottle. Just apply using a cotton swab.

Ive used the liquid nitrogen twice so far, both within a week of each other. Warts are gone, now there is just a small pinkish dot which is barely noticeable. I heard from a reliable source that mixing tea tree oil with crushed golden seal tablets is highly effective. By mixing the 2 you get a paste-like goo which you spread on the visible warts and leave on over night.

Will let everyone know how well this works once I get a hold of the golden seal.

Take care, and good luck everyone!

Tea tree oil and Genital Warts
I was diagnosed with HPV 14 years ago and got 'proper' treatment from the doctor, which involved painting on an acid and freezing and cutting off a particularly stubborn one.

Found the whole experience humiliating and embarrassing and hoped that would be the end of that. All seemed good for 14 years, until last month I noticed one small wart. I felt completely gutted that after all this time they were back.

Decided against going to the doctors and looked on the net for a treatment that didn't involve a third person!

Pure Tea tree oil can be very damaging to the skin - particularly in sensitive areas. I tried it and it irritated the hell out of my nether region!

After allowing the irritated skin to clear up using a gentle anti-septic cream, I got some vaseline, emptied half out and melted it by sitting the container in hot water. I added a few drops of pure tea tree oil, gave it a good mix and just applied the mix with a cotton bud directly to the wart.

It's not gone yet but it is definately shrinking. It will obviously take a bit longer due to the fact I am using a very weak solution of tea tree - but I'd rather that than using pure tea tree and hurting the hell out of myself again.

The weaker the solution, the kinder to the rest of your skin it will be (although it will always sting a little bit). There really is no point in damaging the rest of your genital area for the sake of a few warts.

On another point I have seen many web posts on various sites using words like 'eeeeh' 'urgh' 'disgusting' etc.

Lets get it into perspective - 80% of the population are affected by HPV in one form or another during their lifetimes. It's only a few little warts and while I understand first hand that it is upsetting and isolating for people, the warts wont kill you - people need to grow up and be a little more sensitive to other peoples misery!

The good news is that although I had a second outbreak after 14 years, it was only one lttle wart this time around.

I'm confident that the tea tree in vaseline will work - if you haven't any vaseline any 'kind to the skin' cream would probably work - although bear in mind I am no doctor and have no medical qualifications. I just understand how desperate and isolating it is. I wont go the doctor myself and I'm happy to try anything to get rid, but from my experience pure tea tree is way too harsh. Good Luck x

Miss F ! you are really an inspiration and strong..I know half the population has it but it still hurts to know you have it to and to see people laughin about it...Its upsetting trying to figure out how in the hell and who in the hell you contracted this from..I sit and cry sometimes because...I want to be cautious and not spread anything to anyone so I refuse to have sex which I miss...but the tea tree oil does work..but I didn't have tea tree oil a few years back ..I just used I think it was olive oil or castor oil an bandaged it up and it vanished on its own...

People on these other sites should grow up and stop posting hurtful things on other sites when they see photos of genital warts because its still painful inside for others who suffer from it..and who are afraid to get in a committed relationship for fear of contaminating their partners...Everyone make sure you still get your checkups..Ladies get regular pap smears because we can still get cervical and anal cancer from the hpv virus also throat cancer if its hiding in our mouths..

God Bless you all and I hope this works out for everyone ..good luck
