Early Pregnancy Signs and Symptoms Forum - 8 Days Late period .. Did I test too early ?

My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex last weekend and I think I might be pregnant. I finally started my period at work this morning around 1 or 1:30 am after being 8 days late. The thing is, I was and still am having early pregnancy signs. I feel nauseas all day, I sleep way more than I usually do, having stomach cramps (unlike period cramps), heartburn, etc.. I took 2 pregnancy tests and they both came out negative. Did I test too early? Could I still be pregnant even though I started my period? If anyone can help me with this, it would be great. Thanks
