Does anyone have any good ideas on how to
a dog to stop biting. She isn't biting
fiercly to hurt anyone, but while playing
she just always nips.

this is something that should've been
taught when she was a puppy. I have done
a lot of dog training, primarily for
pure-bred competition dogs. Hopefully
this will help you.
Teach your dog that biting hurts you.
When she bites, give a sharp "no!" or
"ouch!" - or even a yelp like a dog would
make. This is the same reaction that your
dog would get from another dog ifshe bit
too hard during play. It teaches him
thatshe's been too rough, and the odds are
thatshe'll be more gentle next time.
Remove your hand slowly - don't jerk it
away - and give your dog a toy that she
can chew on without damage.
If your dog ignores your reaction and
bites again, repeat your "no!," "ouch!" or
yelp, and leave the room for a few
minutes. Let your dog know that when she
bites, she will lose his playmate. This,
too, mirrors the reaction she would get
from another dog if she played too
roughly.
Be persistent in your training. As your
dog's behavior improves and his bites are
softer, continue to yelp or give a sharp
"no!" or "ouch!" whenever she puts his
teeth on you. Make it clear that all
bites are painful and unacceptable to
humans.
Reinforce your dog's good behavior.
Whenever she licks you without using his
teeth and whenevershe plays nicely and
appropriately, give him plenty of praise.

You know what's funny. I wrote this
thinking " I bet justin will know". You
seem to know everything. Thanks. I
will try your suggestions. It doesn't
help that I have kids that run around like
goofballs which provokes the poor dog.

I went home for my lunch hour and it
already seems like it will work. We have
always said no, but have never said ouch
or acted like it hurt us. I did it when
I got home and she stopped. She's a
smart girl. She is trained to a certain
extent. It is just the biting we have
trouble with.
