Q: Mircette And Breakthrough Bleeding

I am 30 years old and had been using orthotricyclen for about 3 years. Because my periods were lasting 7 - 9 days, I went to the doctor and asked for an alternative. She suggested mircette. Everyday, since I have started mircette, I have been bleeding. I mostly will see it after going to the bathroom, but it's enough that I need to use a light pantiliner as later in the day it gets worse. I should be getting my period in about a week or so. Is it safe for me to try mircette for another month before contacting my doctor? I've never experienced this before and would rather have a 7-9 day period than an everyday period!
Thanks for any help.
