As far as my knowledge goes, and its
fairly limited, epilepsy is only passed
only genetically. Thus, it confuses me
how head trauma induced seizures.
Anyways, if someone in his family history
does have seizures and he does as well,
and it is a proven fact, there is a chance
that your child can be born with a seizure
disorder. Now, this disorder, may show
up only in the early years of his/her
life, the middle years, the later years,
all his/her life, or never, but there,
just like determining the sex of the
child, is a chance of having a child with
a seizure disorder if it is genetic, which
i'm 95 percent postive it is. Best of
luck to you.

It is possible, but there is a fifty fifty
chance.

Hi there!
As far as I know, there are many causes
epilepsy. And one of them is a massive
trauma to the head.
So your fiance epilepsy's is probably from
that nasty trauma to his head...
I am not a doctor, but I think that if he
has no relatives with epilepsy....Than the
chance your baby will have it is no more
than any baby in this world...
Anyway, as far as I know, epilepsy is not
only genetic, and in fact even people who
got the possiblity to get it, it will only
occur with the specifics conditions.
Take care!

Being that it was caused by trauma...It is
my belief that you have nothing to worry
about.
Good luck,

Seeing how his was caused by an accident I
wouldn't worry..... And no other family
members have any problems. Good luck!!!!

I Am 16 And My Name Is Natalie... Posted: 10-02-05 17:15pm
Hello everyone my name is natalie. I
developed e. A year ago. I have two
older brothers who also have e. It was
passed on through my parents. Neither of
them have e. My mother is a nurse, and my
father is an er doc. To correct dobby07,
most e. Is not inherited through genes.
Infact it is rarely inherited. Usually
you could get it randomly-or through some
type of injury. I know a lot about this
disorder so if you have any questions feel
free to email me! -natalie
