Hello, I have had the following symptoms over the past 2 weeks and was wondering if they possibly indicate mono infection:

stomach problems: aches, gas, bloating, indigestion
headache
weakness
mild fever
fatigue
sore throat
stiff neck

in particular, I am suffering symptoms of malabsorption of food. I have an urge to defecate more frequenty than normal (several times a day), and my stools are large, soft, irregularly shaped and contain undigested fragements of food. Also, the color of my stools varies from yellow, green, and brown. I did some research and i'm fairly certain that this is not diarrhea, but rather steatorrhea, which is indicative of problems with my liver or pancreas. I'm certain my gastrointestinal problem is not diarrhea because it is not watery. However, I don't see any signs of jaundice or yellowing of my skin or eyes..

Has anyone ever heard of such symptoms of malabsorption being caused by mono? Or is this more indicative of hepatitis b or c ?

I have a really weird rash all over my body. I took a blood test last week and it came back positive for mono but I think this rash isnt normal, has anyone else had one and if so do you recommend anything for it?

The gi symptoms aren't typically mono symptoms - however I have found some studies that indicate gi tract problems resulting from mono. I have had gi problems and mono now for a few months, but I definitely got checked for other things that might be causing gi problems and all they found was mono. But definitely talk to your doctor. And let us know how it turns out.

Well I turns out I don't have mono but rather hepatitis b virus. I got my blood test results back and they indicate positive for hepatitis b virus surface antigen. I think the gastro problems were the indicator that it is not mono but something else. My doc says my glands were not swollen enough to indicate mono. I don't have fever anymore, only the stomach problems and slight weakness / sick feeling.
