Q: Cannot Speak After Waking.

This has only happened a few times, but I was just curious about it and why it happens. Ive naturally waken up with completely numb and lifeless arms or legs, this happens to alot of people I guess, but I havent heard about being speechless.

I have waken up maybe 2 or 3 times and was completely unable to speak or even welp. This is scary if you ask me. It makes me think of being so afraid of something that you can even get a welp out, but im not afraid. I just wake up and nothing, it takes me a few minutes to start building up a yell, and finally its back to normal. Its sorta like the numb arm thing.

Is this from me waking before my brain has time to send the proper intel to my vocal box? Did I wake prematurely before the brain was operating fully? Any info?

This has happened to me on occasions as well. I believe it's called sleep paralysis. It doesn't occur very often, so I haven't studied or sought out treatment.

It's very unnerving to wake up and not be able to move or speak. Sometimes it makes me scared and sometimes I realize the problem and simply close my eyes and try to go back to sleep.

Some people actually have hallucinations. Imagine being in this state and seeing horrible images all around you. This probably comes from dreaming. A lot of people believe that those who claim to be abducted by aliens are actually going through this kind of sleep paralysis. I've only had one occasions where I continued to dream as I woke up. I had been dreaming about bees and when I woke up I could not move or speak and I could feel a bunch of bees crawling all over my hand. All I wanted to do was get up and shake them off, but I couldn't.
