Here is my sufferings:
i live in chicago illinios, usa ( suburban area ) so it’s 6 months winter here around 30 f.
During winter time the heat has to blow continuously in the house that usually makes the throat dry.
After a bad sore throat a year ago, following a bad cough that lasted couple of months I had continuous symptoms like feeling that my throat is swollen (lymph nodes ), and sore ( no need of pain killer ) , frequent throat clearing, minor burning sensation, occassionaly lumpy feeling.
I had several visits to ent and had a complete course of levaquin ( antibiotics of floxecin group of medicines like cipro ) and penicilin. So no question of infection.
Flexible lyringoscopy found nothing unusual except that mucus stick on the back of the throat and reddish throat.
The ent had a doubt on gerd and allergy. I took nexium for couple of months and not much help.
For allergy he prescribed lotradine(antihistamine) 10 mg (otc), zyrtec® (cetirizine hcl), and nasonex nasal spray(mometasone furoate monohydrate) etc which did not help.

Do you also suffer from nasal discharge if so it is watery or thick and yellowish?
Not much. Sometimes it is thin yellowish.
Do you suffer from sneezings? Worse on exposure to dust, smoke, cold, odors etc.?
Occasionally.
Do you have any nasal blockage? Worse day or night?
Late night to early morning. One at a time. No daytime blockage.
Do you feel mucus falls from the nose into the throat?
Yes even if my nose is clean I feel lumpy throat some kind of dripping/discharge.
Do you feel there is any throat irritation?
Once in a while itchy throat. Continuously feel that my throat is swollen and sometimes I do not like to wear round neck cloths which touch my throat.
Are all the symptoms worse on intake or exposure to cold?
The symptoms come and go away. I guess the answer is yes but not 100%.
Do you suffer from cough? Is it worse during day or night?
Not now...
Is it productive? If so what is the color of the phlegm?
I have thick/sticky mucus. I have to clear a throat quite a lot.
Do you suffer from breathlessness too? Does it disturb sleep at night?
No.
Any other symptoms you can note?
How is your appetite, thirst, urination, bowel movement, perspiration, menses, sleep etc.?
Appetite is good. Bowel movement is ok (2 -3 times a day). Perspiration is not much since I live in cold weather. Sleep is good except that I started snoring.
Any other illness you suffer from, and if so what is the medication you are under?
Any past history of significant illness?>
any family history of similar illness?
What are the investigations done and what do the reports indicate?
I am sure there should be some homeopathic medicine that would help me.

I am not a doctor but it appears as though they are treating the allergic part of this problem very well.

Zyrtec and nasonex shoud be doing a great job of quelling the issue here. If it is not and they have already tested the phlem for infection and it is negative, it appears that you really need to keep your house as "allergen free" as possible!

Use hepa filters in each room and keep the doors to those rooms closed so that the filter can filter only the air in that room and also keep your heating/air conditioning filter changed and use only the filtrete hepa style filters in there.

I know you cannot live only in your home but if you can keep your living atmosphere clean then you may be able to recover enought while there to encounter the allergens in the outside world.

(side note, you cshould eb checked for a yeast infection in your throat if you havent already.)

Sore Throat.
Tamadrummer:
thanks for the reply. I could not get the yeast infection part. I am a beer head. Couple of bears three times a week or so. Funny thing is yesterday I had bad symptoms of sore throat and I had couple of beers. Moring, I feel more comfortable. I feel like is allergy and post nasal drip, but not sure. How about ionic breeze air cleaner? Any idea on how long should I try for nasonax and zertec. I do not take them continuously, occassionaly when I need them.

As far as I understand, you need to take the medicines regularly for them to have the desired affect on your problem.

As far as a yeast infection goes, there are many ways in which a man can contract yeast infections and if you are sexually active and participate in oral with your woman, whom may be a non-active yeast carrier, you could have that and not know it, but that is only one of many ways.

I would not buy the ionic breeze, I would buy the regular old wal-mart or sears brand room hepa filter and scour the air in your home.

Also take your allergy medicine everyday as prescribed and that may fix all of your problems totally.

Good luck and I hope all works wonerfully.
