I was born with my right testicle undescended. I had an operation when I was 11 to rectify the problem. The operation was called orchidopexy. I'm now 24 and have had no problems since.

However i'm just a bit concerned about what the future holds in relation to becoming a dad. Can anyone give me any advice please?

Has anyone else had similar problems and if so have you managed to have children etc etc?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Undecended Testical
My son had this operation when he was a baby. Our doctor told me that he would have no problems as an adult with having sex and having children.

How old was your son when he had the op? I read that you should have it done as young as possible. I was 10/11 when I got it done which i'm frightened that it should have been done a lot earlier than that.

my son was 1-2, and had the operation as soon as it was detected. Does your mom remember what she was told by the doctor who did the operation?

Thats whats concerning me mostly. Why I had the operation so later on. It must have been detected before then. Would my body have started producing sperm etc at the age of 10/11? If so with having the operation so later than the recommended age of 1-2 effect me in any way at all?

From what I have read you should be able to still have children where as in my boyfriends case the chances are slim to none which were dealing with but I would still like to know what ne one else has to say about it good luck

right hi i have just started to look for info on this subject ,and ended up here.lets start i had undecsended testicals and it was known from a very early age ,i was meant to be operated on at the age of about 3 but from what i can gather it was left to see if the matter sorted itself ...but by the time i was 8 and 1/2 they had not dropped so i had the operation at almost precisly 8 and a half years old,the operation seemed to go well i have no problems with sex and by the age of 11 was working down there,i had various sexual partners from the age of 15 and again no problems at all (for those old enough to be sexually active but are still undecsended dont worry you can still have sex )...right heres the difficult part ...i have been sexually active very active for 12 years ...with many girls (dont wanna brag:P) and have been with my present partner 9 years.now without wanting to sound stupid but most the girls i was with were mainly casual sex and very often a couple were on the pill but i rarely used contreception...not a single girl i been with has been pregnant from me yet and nor has my partner of nearly 9 years ,i have none nor have ever ad any sexually contracted disease and teh same goes for my partner.so fertility test now i supposse see what is happening with us both down there but so far my operation was unsuccessfull sorry guys...im 27 now btw

Same here
Mine was down until I was at least 6 and then back up at some point and I had the surgery to correct at 11. that testical never came down as far and is tiny, smaller than a grape. I have two children now so, the other one must have done the job. My only problem is that my wife says the other one is small as well and my penis is 4 1/4" erect. So, my biggest problems are the looks of it and some sexual challanges. I don't know if the two are related though, never asked any doctor.

My right testical has for the past 19 years, been undesended and have had no operation to correct the problem, however a few months ago it desended without any medical treatment. Would like to know if there is any medical problems that i should be aware of. If anyone could give any advise, it would be greatly appriciated.

You only need one nut.
to father somebody, but you need to see an Urologist the sooner the better, because a testicle in you cavity may and remember I said May beocme cancerous, so you need to see your doctor, a Ct scan should be done and others tests, you may loose that testicle, but they may replace it with an artificial one, so your will look and feel normal. But please see a doctor the sooner the better...

undescended testicle
I had the operation at 11, same one small nut problem. There could be a connection between sex and this but it is likely slight, perhaps a delay in onset of puberty? However I have 3 girls (and conceived 5) so don't worry. Regardless of having the operation or not there is an increased risk on testicular cancer so see your doc and check both of them frequently.
