Nervous About Ortho Evra! Posted: 11-04-03 11:33am
I have been on ortho cyclin, ortho tri
cyclin and sprintec, but I recently just
started using the patch, actually this is
my first week. I haven't had any side
effects to ortho cyclin or tri cyclin, but
I did feel a little weird on sprintec, so
I stopped using it. I'm really nervous
about this one .
I am experiencing a little discomfort
where the patch is, but not enough to stop
wearing it. I was also wondering how long
it takes the medicine to get into your
system. There are some different side
effects to this one. And I know that it
runs through the bloodstream, but i'm kind
of skeptical on how effective this is.
And I just want to reasure myself that I
made a good decision. I have heard some
bad experiences with the patch. I am a
full time student, and I can't afford to
miss alot of classes now, because the
semester is coming to an end.

Well if your skeptical still, then use
condoms at the same time. I used them for
about a week after I started the patch. I
think its fine. I just had some nausea.
And headaches. But thats it. What bad
experiences have you heard? I thought I
might be pregnant but now I dont think so
because im still on my period.

I tried it for a month. I think it put to
much into my body at once. I got very
sick and had bad headaches. I toughed it
out as long as I could, but I swim a lot,
and it started to come off. The
pharmacist said to put another one on, but
once again I got the nausea and vomiting
with sharp painful headaches. I took the
patch off. I'm back to ortho tri cyclen.
I still have a little sick feeling and
frequent headaches, plus I forget it a lot
and have to double up. Does anyone know
if this can damage my body or reproductive
system? Does anyone know of a better form
of birth control?
Thanks,
marissa

I have forgotten to take the pill quite a
few times, and I doubled it up. I don't
think it's bad for you, but I also don't
think it is safe to do all the time. That
to me would seem like it's putting to much
in your system. I started taking it in
the morning in the beginning, but when I
got up in a rush, I always forgot to take
it, I found that I remembered it more when
I started taking it at night before I went
to bed. I'm not really sure what type of
birth control is best, but I know that the
shot is really bad for you. A couple of
my friends were on it, and their doctors
eventually took them off it, because it
has long term effects. How long after you
started the patch did you notice side
effects, i'm kinda sitting around waiting,
and i'm nervous it's gonna hit me when i'm
at school, I have been on it for 48 hours
now, I don't know if it has started
working yet! Thanks

i have heard that a couple people got
really sick from it, and they had to stop
taking it. I have a little discomfort

i'm not sure if it's from the patch
though, i'm not sure how long it takes to
start working?

It might be from the patch because I got
really bad headaches too. I still get
them even though im off for now. I never
threw up but I felt like it. I think it
takes 72 hours to work. You can look at
the web site www.Orthoevera.Com
and it has the frequent questions and
stuff.
