Hi, I had an operation to correct acid reflux last august and all was going well. Since january though, i've been suffering pain around the gall bladder area radiating up and down the right side of my body. An endoscopy revealed no problem with my hiatal area or the operation. Ultrasounds were 'normal' and it was suggested that I push for a hida scan on another health forum that i've contacted. I don't see the specialist until april 2nd. I have no 'emergency' symptoms like jaundice or fainting so I can't go for emergency treatment. My doctor says 'its probably ibs!!!!' but its bloody wearing - constant discomfort with sharp pains radiating through my abdomen intermittently. I am going to ask for the hida scan but its tough - another week to wait for the consultancy (and this is private). I'm worrying that it is a liver problem but apart from abdominal pain I don't exhibit any other symptoms. I too am getting sinus pain at times and pain in my jaw but an ecg test last month was normal. Just feels like i'm banging my head against a brick wall.

Hida Scan
Hello, I have had the exact same symptoms and chain of events you mention. Although, I have not had any surgery. All of my test have come back normal, with the exception of my hida scan, it was "objectively abnormal", it does not release as much fluid as it takes in, however, when they injected the hormone to cause the gallbladder to contract, I experienced no pain, so they concluded that the test was normal. I am currently waiting for a phone call from my Dr. To see what step is next. My question is...How did your hida scan come back and what has happened since?

I'm not the starter of this thread but would like to tell you about my hida scan ... Mine didn't hurt either and it came back at 39% which was 4% over the 'norm'.... Didn't sound normal to me!!! Or feel it! thank goodness I was referred to a surgeon that goes by symptoms and not test results... He said he knew it was my gb! And he was right... I had surg 7 weeks ago and feel totally better.... I had no stones.. But when he removed my gb he said it was very inflamed and swollen and full of scar tissue which meant I had been having years of attacks...

I can't tell you how nice it is to eat again! Had been very sickly since around xmas time... Got to where even water hurt... Pathetic! I had two tacos from jack in the box tonight... And we know how greasy those are... Shame on me... I had no pain.. And no diahrea... That is one thing the surgery didn't help was my bowel habits... They tried to tell me I had ibs ... Which I may have but hmmmm I feel so much better now that the gallbag is gone!!!

I am glad to see I am not the only one having these kind of problems. I have had every test done to me. They all come back normal. This pain I am feeling is not normal! It feels like someone is pushing out on the inside of my ribcage. It is usually a constant pain and at times gets very sharp. This week so far I have been able to keep my food down and not run to the bathroom after every meal. I get a week where I can't keep anything in me. I am so tired of this. I am also getting some chest pains and some upper abdominal pains. I am so tired on top of it all. All I want to do is lay down and do nothing. All these problems have totally messed with my life. I am missing work, school, and am stuck in the house more then I care to be. I go next week for an upper scope, hopefully it shows something! I want something to be wrong so we can fix it!

Shoulder Blade Pain
I have been experiencing pain beneath my back right shoulder blade since 1989 after I gave birth to my son. The pain feels as if i'm having a contraction, sort of like having a baby out of my shoulder blade. The pain lasts for about 5 minutes, goes away for about 5 minutes and then comes back. This goes on for about 2 hours and then its gone for another couple of months. It always happens while i'm sleeping and wakes me up immediately. It only happened about once a year but now is happening every few months. I also have what feels like a charlie horse under my front right rib cage once in a while. Other than that, those are my only symptoms. I have spoke to my doctor about it and she had no idea what it could be and recommended I go to the emergency room the next time it happens. It seems to always happen on a holiday... Could be due to the good food on the holidays. So, I went to the emergency room and they took so long to check me in, the pain was gone by the time they got me in for a cat scan.
Has anyone experienced this that has gallblader problems?
Thank you for responding.
Tracy

gb symptoms
Not everyone with liver problems have the typical problems. My mom thought she had some sort of stomach virus or something when they found she had Hepatitis C at the ER! Be sure to get the liver function blood test done. I lived with gallbladder disease or stones (attacks) for years before they finally showed up on the ultrasound. I'm doing much better now since having it removed. Good luck.
