Sparkles & Pregnancy
I too have "sparkles." They are very freaky. However, I notice mine in a dim or dark room. Like another poster, these started in pregnancy. The first time there was a whole shower of bright little sparks, but now I just see 1 at a time. They happen all day long. I've seen an opth. & a neurologist & have had lots of blood work-up & an MRI. MRI showed several tiny white dots in brain, but neurologist is not concerned.
I will be worried about MS until enough time passes with no further symptoms. To the poster that feels off-balance, I hope you've had an MS workup b/c visual changes & balance problems are both symptoms (not to scare you.)
I will test the WBC theory. Hopefully it's true for me and I can stop being freaked out by this.

Brain or Eye
Just today while looking at a wikipedia article (black writing and white background) it looked as if the page was all of the sudden turning white. It seemed like the black writing was dimming into white. This lasted for about a second. I don't recall things getting blurry around the computer screen or even the words themselves. In fact my initial reaction was that it was the computer doing something like the fading of a page in a slide show. I was sitting relatively far from the screen and had to struggle to see the writing (I have no general eye problems that I know of).
Does anybody have an idea of what happened or any leads?

pineal gland - third eye
hello guys, i found this searching for an answer to my own question but this looks like something im familiar with. it is my point of view that the reason u can see the specs is because ur third eye is awakening. also called the pineal gland, it's a real eye thats in ur head and doesnt show. it is able to look thru both eyes and see with such pinpoint accuracy that u see the lil balls of energy that look like atoms. in essence u can see them by focussing on a point in space between u and an object rather than focus on the wall or table etc. it is beautiful and maybe soon u will experience full white light vision. from a mystical point of view ur becoming one with the universe. doctors just wont have a clue. this is not a disorder really as many will meditate for years to achieve just that level. play with ur eyes.. its alot of fun they can do alot of tricks including turn off while still open, change the color of reality, shrink and zoom in and stuff. lol i know it sounds fantastic but the creation of the human body really is. well its up to u. do what u wish with ur body. personally, its my body so i play with it as i please. dont be scared. if ur afraid of death remember that normally ppl die eventually anyway so its not something u can dodge. just live ur life and dont let the butchers/doctors and psychs dig up in ur head too much. they really arent sure what theyre doing. youtube "david icke" and similar videos. dont feel out of place with society, theyre gonna have to catch up to u.

I've been having the same sparkles in my vision 24/7 for almost a year. I've been to two neuros, two neuropthamologist, retnal specialist, you name it. Countless scans & tests. Found nothing. Pretty much at my wits end. It's taking over my life & is all I think about. I'm scared & don't know what to do or where to go. Any suggestions anybody??

I am so glad to have found this...
I am so glad to have found this site. I was just down in my kitchen making breakfast...I don't know if any of this is relevant but both the kitchen and I were quite warm. I also felt like I was starting to lose my voice for some reason...both of which may have nothing to do with what happened next. I was cleaning up after breakfast and suddenly started seeing the lights. It was almost like looking out into a field at night time and seeing all the little lightning bugs out in the distance flying around while flickering on and off. Don't take that to mean I was losing vision blackness setting in...everything else was perfect except for the flickering little bug-like lights. Mostly in my upper field of vision towards the ceiling. It totally freaked me out and my wife noticed me staring off into space and asked what was wrong. I'm 35 and it was the first time it ever happened...hopefully the only time. Wow was that wierd.

Does anybody know- really
I have experienced this euphoric event many times in several years. Any doctor I have asked seems to dodge the question. When this first began this state was very short, over the years it has become longer.
I don't know what it is really. I assume it is related to blood pressure, dehydration, or exertion of energy. I have also been told lack of a particular vitamin. Who the heck knows. I know I experience this less when I have not been drinking alcohol, and am fully hydrated. If I spelled anything wrong, I apologize.

This is torturing me.
I see these floaters and flashes all the time. It causes me to have a bad headache pretty much all the time and my eyes are burning and hurting all the time. I have had scans and seen eye specialists and everything. I'm starting to fear that nobody knows/and will ever know wht it is.

he blue field entoptic phenomenon or Scheerer's phenomenon
This is called he blue field entoptic phenomenon or Scheerer's phenomenon. Previous posts are correct. Well kind of. The spots are not the cells themselves but rather, gaps between the cells. Link here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_field_en toptic_phenomenon

shooting lights
I just started noticing this as well. My right eye since I was a baby had a detached retina, so I've been almost totally blind since a baby.

When I was 26 I started noticing that I can't read that well without blocking out surrounding light. I found out when I was 29 that I had cataracts in both my eyes so I had them removed. My twin later found out as well that he had cataracts.

Now the other day I noticed a small flash which ruled out as nothing. However today after being in a dark room then going into the day light the shooting flashes...something like a shooting star... was happening frequently.

I did recently visit a chiropractor and he stated that I am fine everywhere except for a few minor adjustments b/cuz of how I sleep and that I'm stressed. I told him I am also tired even after sleeping all night. By the time I get in my car going to work in the morning I almost feel like I'm getting the flu or something b/cuz of how I feel. He said that is fatigue.

So I've been taking some supplements he suggested I get along with some drops to remove metals from my body.

I noticed a few more floaters than normal after a couple of days of taking this stuff and today the flashes.

I will say this. I've been under a lot of stress lately, sleeping very little because of projects I am on and a lot of driving. Today when I noticed the flashes like I said I was in a dark room then noticed when I went outside...I was also very hungry ..didnt eat lunch.

I am out of town so I won't be able to see a doctor until Monday. I will say this since I've been back in my hotel with the lights off I haven't noticed the flashes at all. However I think I may have noticed a black flash or maybe thats just a floater that moved quickly with the combo of my mind thinking I saw a quick black flash.

The lights were either above or the the side of my center of vision.

I was worried about a detached retina, but since I haven't had the flashes for almost an hour...I think its more related to the fluids and day light.

I will discontinue the stuff the chiro gave me for a few days to see if this lets up and see a doctor on Monday.

white flashing
I have had retinal detachment in both eyes so if you think you have it get it checked out immediately, especially if part of your vision has gone. I'm having these white flashes as well and they go across the top of my left eye. I am getting checked out to see if I've got detached retina's again. If they let me know anything I will post it. Smile

doctors are retards
I get this white wash of light in my lower left eye. Doctor says its not retinal detatchment. I've recently had a vitrectomy and cataract surgeries along with multiple lazer surgeries for diabetic retinopathy, but my doctor says he's never heard of my white washes of light. They are almost liquid like. They started out as balls of light about the size of a dime and later progressed to white liquidy washes of ;light that last for about 1 sec.

Maybe just me
Any of you ever thought maybe it is something supernatural? I see white fireflies, sparkles, orbs, what ever you would want to call them. However I only see them once in a while, with no particular back ground and no specific circumstances at all. Also mine are only in my peripheral vision. Every once in a while I will see single larger "orbs" that will move slower. I do not have floaters or any other eye disorder besides I wear glasses because I am near sighted.

Travis is young and from what I have ever heard people are more susceptable to supernatural events while they are going through puperty. I have always been pretty open minded about supernatural things. I am reading a book To Dance With Angels, for the second time, it is about spiritual things. I have been seeing them a little more often lately.

As far as the stress goes, in this book, it says that your "spirit"(for lack of a better term) communicates with other spirits, while you are sleeping and day dreaming, for advice, counsel and the like. Maybe since you took a nap while you were fishing you were communicating with spirits, when you awoke you just naturally seen what was already there, now you are focusing on it more now.

I don't believe it is a problem,I feel you should be happy about it, if it is what I am describing atleast. I try to focus on mine.

To those of you that keep trying to blame floaters, floaters are dark not bright.

Oh, and I'm not religious at all, in fact I don't even believe in god. But I do believe in ghosts, and after I read, To Dance With Angels, I do believe in "spirits". So don't use religion as an excuse, you just need to open minded.

I'm experiencing this myself...
I've just been experiencing this for myself this week, exactly as Travis13 has initially described. It lasted for about 30 minutes.

While searching for answers on the net, and found info related to: it may be caused by stress, anxiety, too little sleep, sleeping in a way to put bad pressure on my eye, floaters, allergies, etc., it spurred on thoughts of my week.

I work in a high stress atmosphere plus lots going on at home right now. I haven't had a lot of sleep lately with being very busy, while still trying to maintain some sort of fitness. However, I wake up tired. Although I am prone to eye allergies, I give myself a jump start with 1-2 cups of morning coffee.

After my second cup, i was still feeling thirsty, but lots happening at work, so didn't do anything for about 1 hour. Then... the SPOTS hit me. I thought I was looking at the computer screen for too long, but they got worse, and i felt a bit nautious. AND, i was thirsty. I started drinking water - 2 cups! So, I know I was dehydrated.

After about 20 minutes after my 2nd glass of water, the spots/blurred vision began to dissipate. The nausea feeling has also left.

I don't know if all of my symptoms are related, but could the blurred vision, the flashing spots, all be a result of dehydration & too much caffiene? Possibly... but wouldn't a doctor be able to test for this or do they just sometimes miss the obvious?

curious moving dots in vision, by the millions
Iv'e seen "moving dots/specks all my life. It is as if everything I look at is filled with them. Kind of like the TV screen on a blank channel. There is no way I can count them as they are so small, and in constant motion. They glow at night. They are white(ish) in appearance, and are so bright that I can't see objects through them. If I move my hand around in front of me, they appear to flow around it, like water swirling around an object.I wear glasses, and when they are on, the dots are clear, without my glasses they are blurry, just like any other object. My brother reports seeing the same way, but both of my parents do not. Since this has been going all my life, I am in no way alarmed, but curious. It is an issue for night driving, so I limit that. The world is made up of many things, seen and unseen...what can I say.
