Im Seeing White Light Flashes That Go Everywhere (im Only 16 (Page 6)

February 21st, 2010
My husband has the same problem of seeing moving particles in the eye that some of you have talked about. It does fit the description of images of blood cell movement. However, there is a difference. He only sees this spot of bright particles moving around at night. During the day, that same area is blurred, and he has trouble seeing through it. Does anyone else have this same problem?

I have the same problem. I have been noticing these flashes of lights moving in random patterns for 4 years now. I am 30. They are annoying. I notice them when I am looking up in the sky, a white computer screen or tv screen, and are even more intense when I go snowboarding and look at the snow. My eyes have been checked and they seem perfect according to the optometrist (I have floaters as well), there is no retinal detachment. He just told me it's white blood cells. I still worry because I have told other people about it and they just look at me weird. I start thinking that maybe this is something new to optometrists and they just can't trace what it is. I don't get any migraines, headaches, nor any other symptoms. The best way for me to deal with it, is to ignore them, but it's very hard to do when staring at something bright. Anyone who has posted here found out any other solutions? I have not have not had my eyes checked in over a year concerning the matter because I am currently without insurance and I have a strong feeling that I am going to get the same answer I got in the past. Maybe this is something more normal than what I think it is. Thanks.

white lights
I've been seeing these white lights lasting 1/2-1 a second then they vanish sometimes i think they are living energy, it happens throughout the day , they look like little bright brilliant stars then they vanish, I sense them to be "living" don't know why i get that feeling, i also see the swirly little bright things they do remind me of some sort of light cells, i thought i was the only one too see them Iam glad others see them as well, when i try to explain it to people they also look at me strange

This is driving me crazy...I'm 43, and have perfect vision and health. I have been to the dr. and they have no idea. What I am having is a bright flash followed by a white spot that I call my ghosts, because thats what they look like. Just something floating to the ground. All this is out of my peripheral vision and only in one eye. It comes all the time. Not just with a certain color or time of day. At times I think something is about to hit me so I duck, because I catch something moving toward me, but its just my spots. Sometimes it happens even when I am going to bed and have shut my eyes. I too, am very concerned. If anyone can help, PLEASE, let me know.

Tell me what u think about this, do u have similiar experiences?? I'm 39 and a month ago I started seeing white flashes, blotches, zigzagging of white light in the peripheral vision of my right eye. I have always been nearsighted and was told if I ever saw this or lost any vision to call my eye doc and get ti checked out, which I did and was normal. This went on for another week and got more frequent and rescheduled another complete eye exam. ANd had another the next week by another doc and nothing super evident just degeneration (lattice) like. Vitreous pulling off they surmise. Anyway its gottne more frequent and I have been feeling sorta dizzy at times, still funcional but not myself. Ive tried the normal stuff,m reduced caffeine, more water, vitamins, check blood pressure (take meds for it and fine). Im nervous and also at my wits end. This is only in the one eye mind you. Eye doc says a brain prob would be in both (true,??possibly) Im unsure. A opthalmic migraine would have other symptoms and not be as frequent. With me there is no real pain, occasionally I feel as tho somthing is either in or behind the eye this could just be me being paranoid). Occasionally I will get a headache and it will be behind that eye but that has been that way for years, always likened it to caffeine (tea, not coffee). So I dotn know if its connected or not. Also another poster here mentioned anxiety. I used to smoke a lot of pot years ago and was alwyas fine until one day I had a major episode Ill call it and went numb, jaw hurting , etc. coulnt walk or crawl even, was aware and awake but no functionality. Had it checked out and not a heart attack but was eventually diagnosed as being VASOVAGAL,, if not familiar with this, read up on it WILL ENLIGHTEN U, most havent heard of it. WEll I take Ativan for it and Neurontin as a regimenand helps the attacks from being bad or severe but still lotsa things trigger them, even overeating. I wonder if this is all somehow tied together, between being vaso-vagal and the eye prob and dizziness. The vaso isa neurological prob but affects u functionally. I first knew of it from smoking the weed but since I have found just about anything can trigger an episode, lack of rest, over exercise, being scared, nervousness, caffeine, (any stimulant at all) so def quit all my drug use just what doctor orders. I just wanted to throw this all out there and see if anyone else can relate to it and maybe it will also enlighten someone on the vaso vagal deal which in debilitating to say the least. Can make u agoraphobic and afraid to do about anything. If anyone has any insight into allthis please respond Id love to correspond with u. We're all in this together whterh the symptoms are identical or not. Thanks for reading.

Im so glad I found yall!
I have had these little white specks in my eyes since June 16th of 2009! It all started 2 days after I moved into a new house. I remember I was walking around Wal-Mart I felt a little on edge I grabbed me a soda & headed outside with my friend when I got into the car I had this overwhelming feeling of passing out it felt like blood rushed to my head & I really thought I was having a heat stroke. My friend turned the air on & I instantly felt better, but I realized after I took a drink of my soda that my ears had this burning sensation every time i swallowed. The next day I woke up with the "{Glitter" in my eyes, feeling unreal, hair falling out everywhere, it was the most awful feeling ever. Here it is almost a year later the spots are still there accompanied with lots of floaters Ive seen the eye dr twice I see an eye surgeon April 30th, Ive had an MRI, EKG, Orthastetic blood pressure checks, diabetes tesing, blood tests, ect. All clean & normal! My symptoms as of now include, glitter in the eyes 24/7 (I see fine in the dark), floaters, dizziness/light headedness, balance disturbance, visual disturbance, ringing in the ears, the feeling of being unreal, confusion, hair loss, memory disfunction, racing heart beat & Anxiety disorder. The only thing my dr. has found wrong with me is Hypothyroidism, the meds only made me worse I have taken myself off of it. This is ruining my life I feel so bad for my husband & daughter they are suffering along with me. Please Help! I want to talk to someone with this same problem, I find comfort knowing there are others out there at the same time my heart goes out to you.

I am so glad I found this post and the replies to it. I''ve been having the same thing for about half a year now; couple of times, have had a "shower" of these bright flashing lights that kinda looked like tadpoles scurrying across my eyes. I get random little flashing lights as well, as well as many annoying floaters. I''ve been to the eye doctor who examined my retina and said my optic nerve looked fine. But all these symptoms are still very annoying.

help
i have had this for prolly around 4 years, they 1st started out barely noticeable at all then they just progressively got worse and worse, i spent alot i mean 8plus hours dayly designing car wraps on my computer, im wondering if this has something to do with it, anyway, it wasnt horribly bad up until this time last year, i also smoked alot of weed from a year before seeing them til about this time last year, i went to my girlfriends apartment and had to start smoking cigs outside, i was in the sun, staring at the sky, and started to notice them a lil more in my parif vision, i tryed not to notice but anyone who has this knows u cant, but after a few days at my girlfriends apartment i headed home, and then i noticed them heavily in my vision, i mean big time in my parif, also when squinting i cold see floaters, and little clear dots, since then i went to the hospital got blood pressure checked and diabetes and i was all good, since then "june 09" it has gotten worse and worse, one morning i woke and there were black dots, with a streak behind them, and the were black "SCARED TO DEATH" i blinked a few times and they went away, that never happened again until just the other month i smoked some weed, and then they were back almost as if i could see the blood vein pumping and a black dot flying threw as it pumped, i then had the same occurrence on another weed experience, then the other day while on the toilet i turned around and then back and they came black or almost a very slow flying not lik the quick flash of them flying but a slow slow flying and they were black and invisible, but since then they had got more visible, to the point looking in the sky in my parif i can see black dots flying, i know that blue field thing says it can have a streak of black trailing them but this is worse, they are getting worse and worse, and im scared one day im just gonna be looking and then these lines and dots are going to go black and cover my eyes and never see again, but this all started after awhile back my eye started twitching and wouldnt stop, i then got a bad right eye, starting slightly blur/double now more and almost nothing is visible clearly except if i tilt my head down and look out the top of my eye which is a common sign of diabetes but i got that checked, my left eye got bad like my right one day and then the next fine, but my left eye is perfectly fine except at very very long distances but is seeming t get worse, i am scred to death as most of u are, this is a nightmare to all of us and i welcome emails and anything that we can talk and subsidize more and more this pain we all have, my theory is 2 things, one and most important THIS IS A NEW PROBLEM! DUE TO COMPUTERS!!! and doctors dont know what to do with it because it is new and not researched as much as it should yet. the 2nd is i believe we all who have this have a verson of cataracts some sort of flim on our eyes, and there fore when seeing bright surfaces the white blood cells are reflecting onto the flim and we are seeing them and the more progressive they get filmy the more they will reflect, i am no doctor just my theory since this is cause i was told by the sun, the sun is burning our eyes, cause our eyes have not had time to rest from cpu to sun and the sun to the cpu and other light producing things. i have started to notice them in the dark sky, and they are getting to turning white instead of clear, i personally have not been to a doctor, i can barely pay bills for my kid wife and myself, but also am scared to hear "brian tumor" i do not want to be a bad episode of greys anatomy, just telling everyone my experiences and my projections, thanks and write me.

Hey, i have noticed these my whole life but they were always for max 30 seconds, but today for the first time i was standing outside having a cigarette, and i saw some in the sky, and as soon as i started focusing on them i started to see hundreds of them in the sky and i was able pull them closer and closer to me the more i concentrated till it looked like they were only inches away from my face. I have never experienced the flashes like that and i was very scared until i read this thread, now i understand that i mentally had allowed myself to see the white blood cells and i just have not think about them at all

White flashes
Like most people i have floaters (and have done for years) which are nothing to worry about, I have also been aware of the swarms of white blood cells across my field of vision ever since i was a child staring up into the sky on a summers day.....these things are of little concern to me. The main reason for me finding this forum was my search for information regarding the flashing filaments of tiny lightning i occasionally experience across the field of my periphial vision. They were first noticed by me as an early teenager whilst doing gymnastics....backflip went wrong and i landed on my backside, and all of a sudden a field of little flashes across my vision which at the time i assumed were just from perhaps stunning myself. Much to my surprise and consternation i continue to ''see'' this phenomenon fairly often....but only when i make some sort of rapid physical exertion (sometimes something as simple as just standing up quickly) but it usually only occurs when I am tired, dehydrated (hungover!), hungry or feeling just a bit under the weather. I have 20/20 vision and regularly see an optometrist for check ups as we have some family history of eye disease, and my blood pressure is fine. I am generally a rather healthy individual and in my prime at 34 years old.
Seems the few doctors i have brought the topic up with all have a different idea (most just google it anyhow!) and my optometrist lists all the usual suspects such as macular degeneration, retinal detachment.....blah, blah, blah! These just seem like a programmed response to cover the fact that they just don''t know!
The big question is.....does anyone ''actually'' know exactly what this is caused by?
It doesn''t seem to be doing me any harm....so far....but i am still very curious to why it occurs....?

I have these!
i have the same condition, lots of tiny dots running around everywhere in my vision, i hate sunny weather now as i can see them on all blank light coloured surfaces. I first got a few floaters that I was thought would go ago, but they didn't. I was so scared to go to the doctors as I thought they would say I was going blind. I have very bad eyesight (short sighted). I have had these floaters for 6/7 years now, very annoying. Then I started to see this dots when I looked at the sky for a few seconds, this has got worse and worse. I now see the dot everywhere.
I been to docs and no problems found, the docs really dont understand, they all think its floaters but I know that this is not floaters - they are 2 different things.

I have not found any way to reduce the problems, i tried extra sleep, vitamins etc.

I wish someone can find a fix, life is hard with all these floaters alone, but with this dots its SO HARD.

Lets hope docs start to believe we have a problem and don't say its floaters all the time.

raj35h I believe what you have are flashes - those tiny dots that run around your eyes. google it, there's quite a lot of info about it. but i think docs ought to speak to their patients more about this and what they need to look out for and stuff. my eye doctor simply said quite exasperatedly, "you're too young to have any eye problems" but for me I know what I see.
other than that, I could probably say that if the docs say there's no problem and flashes and floaters are accompained by nausea/vomitting, it could be a sign of "ocular migraine".
I'm not a professional though, so I can't say for sure, but maybe you could find a better doc.
best of luck.

What is going on?
Does anyone find it unusual that when we go in and tell our Dr.s about this they have NO idea what we are saying even the EYE dr. can't find anything? Think about this? This is NOT anxiety! GRRRRRR I just want an answer & some help

I also have this problem but in addition have weird black ones (much less of them than the white ones). I am wondering if anyone else has seen the black ones too. These black ones are definitely not floaters as I have tons of floaters (I think from inflammation in my eyes) and I know what floaters look like and move like. These things move and look nothing like floaters and are MUCH blacker.

I have read about the white blood cell theory and am wondering if this is related to having an inflammatory eye disease (eg causing more white blood cells in the eye maybe?). I only started having this problem when I started getting problems with inflammation in my eye.
