Q: How Birth Control Works

When is a woman's period supposed to come while taking birth control pills? My friend is currently on ortho tri cyclen and she gets her period in the middle of her last week of pills. Is this normal? I thought she was supposed to get her period after she completes the whole 28 day set. If she's not normal, what do you suppose could be wrong with her?
Thanks in advance!

Your friend is normal, and that sounds right. In the 28 pill pack the last 7 do not contian any hormones and it takes a couple of days since the last pill for your body to start menstrating. I am on a sunday start, so my last pill I take containing hormones is on sat and get my period on tuesday.

Yeah, she's right. Your friend is normal. You should get your period a few days after taking the last hormone-containing pill so you get your period during the week of placebo pills. Also, just an fyi, even if you still have your period when you're supposed to start a new pack - start the new pack...Don't wait!
