For the last month, the inside of my hands have been extremely itchy at certain times, when they are itching, they swell up and I can feel the heat within my hands. It seems to be in the dermis of my skin, I have tried numerous hand cream to stop the itch, but nothing seems to work. When I itch, I get small white bumps that appear underneath the skin, itching them, breaks them and I end up with calluses or the skin flakes off. Does anyone have any of advice?

I just went to the doctor last week for a similar thing and was told it's dyshidrotic eczema. I have a steriod cream to put on twice daily. See your doctor!!

me too!
My palms get annoyingly itchy, and fingers (especially thumb) feel swollen and firm. It totally does seem that when it starts I'm always at a Walmart, or Costco, or Home Depot. Some high-ceilinged warehouse like store. I guess that is the connection between them, at least. *shrug*. I would love to figure out what causes this. I work in a pharmacy and have no problems at work so I don't think being around a lot of (potentially sick) people is the problem. For me, a moisturizing lotion along with applying heat seems to bring relief, but I am determined to find a prevention one day!

OMG!
I came here looking for an answer to the exact same thing and as soon as I saw Elsha's note, I realized what it was. I too was at a Home Depot! I bought and assembled a Barbeque Grill. And, being a computer programmer, my hands are unused to physical labor...like using a screw driver!

Did you go to the Wal-Mart and then have to assemble that dang furniture they sell? lol

That's what my cause is anyway. Hands swelled during the night and were itchy the next morning. Razz

Thanks for mentioning the Home Depot,
Michael in Houston

The Walmar Itch
I did a search on google as to why my hands would swell and become itchy at a nearby Walmart and came across this site. I wonder how many people this happens to and why?

I get this on my palms and the soles of my feet. The only thing that seems to help is ice. The cold stops the burning and itching.

remedy for the red itchy scaly palm thing - calamide !
sure shot remedy - you have dishydrosis - forget steroids - calamine lotion - cheap easy. exfoliate with it and then add another layer for throughout the day. if it gets to dry - lip balm is fine. apply more calamine after prolonged contact with water. i beat this stuff any you would not believe how bad i had it. tried everything.
