Q: My Husband's Stomach Problem

Occasionally while sleeping, my husband wakes up abruptly choking and struggling to get his breath. He is finally able to breathe normally, but then has a burning in his throat with a lot of burping. He occasionally takes antacids while sleeping to deal with heartburn. I suspect that contents of his stomach come up his esophagus and he chokes on it, especially after eating late at night. I would like him to see a doctor about this but he is reluctant. He is overweight and his father and brothers have hiatus hernias. What do you advise? Thanks.
