dont ignore swellings
im a medical student though not a doctor yet but i would like to mention here that a non painful lump is usually more serious and benign tumor in nature which can later become painful and malignant. pain before or with appearance of swelling is a sign of inflammation and likely to be cellulitis or even cyst.
pls do consult a doctor when you notice anything abnormal. and always insist on getting tests like mri done when doubtful of his diagnosis.
take care friends, hope this is of some help.

I just noticed in lump under the skin on my right thigh near the bikini line. When I took a shower earlier there was nothing there, but after coming back home from dropping my daughter to school there was a lump when I stood in fron of the mirror to undress. It is not painful and it moves around when I touch it. Also about two days ago I noticed in the corner or my right toenail turned blackish bule. I am going to see my doctor soon because I am scared. Anyone else have or had these symptoms?

Same subject but age is....a lot different..15
Hello yes i have to have the same exact problem except, however i noticed it in the shower and yet i did not bang or do anything to cause it. I've read other posts and i'm a little frightened because all of you are saying your between 20-40 and i'm only 14 about to be 15 years of age. Does this mean it could be worse for me?

Painful lump on thigh
Hi, i'm the original poster of this thread and over 5 years later am just giving an update.....
Firstly the pain when swallowing was just an inflamed gut which was soon sorted, but the lump/mass is still here, i have just put up with it really and got on with things but am going to go back and see doctor as it has doubled in size now and seems to have split into 2 large areas. Also it's really painful now and interfering with my day to day activities, pain seems to spread up through my hip and down through my calf.
I suspect it's just a cyst as I have loads of them in my breast so may just be prone to them either that or I really should have got it sorted sooner but the first experience really put me off and made me feel quite silly.
I will let you know and hope everyone else is doing fine

Lumps
Hi. I just wanted to say. Anything you want to have checked out because it isnt right, then do it. "Age" bracket or not. I got Uterine cancer at 26. The doctor called it a fluke because most women who get uterine cancer are over 50 going thru or after menopause. Illnesses and diseases do not care what age you are. If they want to be in you they will be. Please always see a doctor. If you dont like that doctor, go see another one. They work for you. Remember that. Smile

hello i've got a lump on the top of my left inner thigh close to the groin area and it's been the for over a month. it started as a small lump under the skin but has gotten bigger and is now a bruise like colour it's also painful when preasures applied on it and when I walk or sit down. it's hardish and the skin covering the lump and around it is dry... I'm really shy with stuff like this and am far too embarrised to go see a doctor, do you have any idea what this could be and how to get rid of it?

It is always wise to check with your doctor first. Besides, getting a second opinion is even wiser. scogostology.org

Lump in thigh
I never knew so many people had thigh lumps. Glad I found you. I recently discovered a lump in my left outer thigh about four inches above my knee. It is deep, in my muscle so I can't feel it well but it causes the area to appear raised. It has body but doesn't feel rock hard. I'd say it is about 1.5"H x 2 or 3"w. It is more difficult to tell its width as it seems to taper off but it is deep so I think that is why it is difficult. I noticed it driving in the car because I felt a burning sensation on the back of my leg. I looked down and could see my thigh was misshapen. When I felt it, although deep, I could clearly feel a lump. I thought it was a boil but the doctor said it is either a cyst or a cancer. However, I ignored him and put vitamin A and iodine on it anyway. It got smaller. He told me to wait two weeks and come back to see him. I go back tomorrow. The burning is gone and it is smaller than when I first went to the doc. I'll write again.

I have exact same problem except my lump sits within a dent in my leg. It's so strange, I wasn't born with it, it just appeared one day! I don't really know what to do. It flares up several times a year getting sore and the skin on the surface goes red but the doctors keep sending me away unaware of what it is.

I too have a lump in my left thigh. Started as a strange dent / hollow which is still there, now have lumps and small nodule near it. It has become increasing painfully and has spread to my sciatic nerve. Also the same area seems to have lost under skin fat and feels quite hard.
Had an MRI for my spine and found a degenerated and herniated lumbar disc. I was given a steroid injection into the disc, which has not helped. My doctor and spine specialist don't seem too interested in my thigh, but...I know my body and something is not right.
Any answers? please post!

Lumps
I too have a lump on my inner thigh as well as the back of my leg and all over my calfs. The ones on my lower leg are smaller in size about the size of a quarter. They are hard, painful, and itch like crazy...
The lumps on my upper legs are about the size of softballs. I've been going through this for about a month now where I will take antibiotics for them but they come right back within a week or so.. My doctor thought it was staph until I mentioned the itching.. Now he is as clueless as I am.. I also have extreme abdominal pain and shortness of breath..Any thoughts?? I would really appreciate it. I'm scaring myself to death looking for answers on the web.

I am 20 and about three months ago, noticed a hard lump deep down that was not moving. It was not painful. I went to my surgeon a week ago, and he sent me for an mri. With the results of my mri, he says he thinks I have a soft tissue sarcoma. He referred me to a much larger and specialized hospital in florida. The lump is very hard, and feels attatched to my pubic bone and my inner thigh muscle. I am currently waiting for the hospital to call with the appointment. I'm finding it very worrisome sitting around waiting. Has anyone had anything along these lines? What were your results?

knot on inner thigh
I have a knot on my inner thigh, where the leg creases. I have noticed that it has gotten bigger. It doesn't hurt and it moves around when I have checked it. Does anyone have a possible suggestion of what this might be? I have had cervical cancer, but the knot is on my right side not the left.

Chronic Expanding Hematoma's
A lot of these posts sound like Chronic Expanding Hematomas. Originating from some sort of blunt force to the area, a vein rupture, or a torn muscle creating a tumor-like cavity filled with blood. Usually the body will heal itself. In my case I did not rest my leg and it progressively got worse. All scenerios should be seen by a doctor for testing!!!!

I'm 14 years old and I found this big lump on my inner right thigh. It's not been too long since I discovered it. It only hurt, well not exactly hurt but discomfort, on touch. I'm pretty sure it's not a boil. I wanna know what it is as soon as possible, or at least have some background before freaking out and bombarding into the doctor's office.
I'm going to describe it a bit, before telling you how worried I am. It's hard but tender. It has a shade of red like when you just scratch yourself really hard. It's a size of a marble or a nipple. I don't see any white spots. My thigh is big, but now it has a bump off it and it's really uncomfortable. If any of you know what it is or have similar experience, please tell me.
