I have had a soft large mass ( approx 5" long, 4" wide) on my upper left thigh for about 18 months, when I first discovered it, it was quite painful and discoloured but not like a bruise, it seemed very veiny.
I had not banged or injured myself, it just seemed to appear.
I went to doctor who after first saying that I must have one fat thigh (i weigh around 130 pounds) eventually sent me for a m.R.I scan.
The results came back and showed up as a large white growth that the specialist said was a tumour, I was asked to go back 2 weeks later and when I did he said it wasn't a tumour after all, just an 'odema'
i never heard anything again untill I recently went back to doctors regarding something else and they asked me about it.
It is still there but only painful to the touch or when I am cold my leg aches in that area.
They have referred me back to another hospital and I am now waiting for another appointment.
The thing is because of the last experience I am wary of believing what they are going to say this time.
The other worry I now have is that for about a month I have had severe back and shoulder pain, and some discomfort swallowing food.
The doctor has said it could be an infection in my esophagus or a more concerningly a cancer of the gullet, he has done blood tests which I am now waiting for results. He does think cancer is unlikely though as I am only 35 and not in the age bracket common for this type.
I am worried sick that the lump is a malignant tumour which has been ignored and now this possible esophagus problem is a secondary cancer.
Any advice would be a great help.

Lump On Thigh Too

so it's been 3 months since you posted and i'm very curious to know what happened.
I also have quite a lump on my left thigh. It seems like i've had it for a very long time but im not really sure. It doesn't hurt and never bothers me but my boyfriend is very worried about it. I don't want to see a doctor about it. Please let me know how things are going

Hi there! I am not trying to scare you and I am not a dr but cancer does not always have to hurt, please go in and get it checked out it could be something small but then again it could be something more dangerous. It sounds like your boyfriend really does care about you, please listen to him.

Lump in upper left thigh
I also have a lump in my upper left thigh. I noticed it about 7 months ago and it has gotten steddily larger and now gets in the way. There isn't any pain or discoloration. I just went to the doctor and had an MRI. My local doctors are sending me to a specialist in Denver. They are worried it is Lymphoma. Lymphoma is treatable but the sooner the better, so if you have a lump get it checked because if it is a cancer it will spread so get it treated before its serious.

well im another concerned boyfriend trying to find answers. she has a hard lump on her thigh only when she flexes her leg but it is raised. a friend/nurse said it is a "split muscle" im worried its more serious. anything is helpful

Painful knot in thigh
OK I have a painful knot in the center of my left thigh. It doesnt move and I do not think it has grown since I discovered it although it could have been smaller before I noticed it. At first I brushed it off as a bruise however there has never been any discoloration of the skin and after a few weeks the pain has not gone away. Since I also suffer from mild acne i thought it might be a pimple but no head has developed after weeks. I am now worried it might be something else since it has not gone away and seems to now be affecting my leg at night.
Please I am needing advice before I make an appointment with my doctor as I feel stupid making an appointment for a sore lump in my thigh. I have always heard of lumps in breasts but never the thigh??
Please help me before it "might" be to late.

I have had surgery twice to remove very painful lumps, nots, etc. Whatever, I been having more pain than normal so I went to the doctor and got another MRI. It says that I have a very abnormal MRI, meaning thigh. I have been to two of the best hospitals in California. The first Hospital for the first surgery was the Kerlin and Gobe Clinic. I is were all the big time athletes go when they have problems. The second one was USC Medical Center. I didn't care for the pain service waking up out of surgery. Now I am with a new doctor and I will be going to UCLA in Santa Monica. One of the masses is 3x3cm and the other is 17cm long. To try to help others with a cancer scar? My two masses were cancer free..

Lump in thigh
13 years ago I noticed a lump at the back of my left thigh . There was no bruise nor any mark at all. When it was painful I could feel it hard, warm and throbbing. It was dismissed by several doctors as pulled muscle and was just given a pain reliever. 4 months after, the pain got worst to the point that I couldn't walk anymore. It turned out to be stage 2 Rhadomyosarcoma - cancer of the muscle. Yes, there is really such a thing. I was operated and had 12 weeks of radiation. By God's grace I have been cancer-free for 13 years. It was found out through ultrasound and was confirmed through MRI. The key is early detection. Have your lump checked. If your test turns out to be negative at least you will have peace of mind. I wish you all the best .

Pain in left thigh
I have had this pain in my leg for about a year now, also in my upper left thigh. But the pain seems to come and go. The pain disappears after a couple weeks or month, I am just concerned because it keeps appearing in the same place, and when there is no pain I can feel a small lump. When the pain appears I have a hard time walking long distances, and even going to sleep because of discomfort. So I am not sure if I should get it checked out or if its just a simple muscle problem

I too dismissed the pain initially as I thought it was just from using high heels and standing too much. My pain then was also on and off until there was weakness in my leg and affected my walking. Having it checked is the best way to know what is causing the pain and discomfort at night. I highly suggest an MRI as it will show muscles and veins that maybe affected. In my case, the ultrasound confirmed that the lump was a tumor. The MRI showed that the tumor is already big that it was hitting the sciatic nerve causing the pain and the weakness in my leg. If your test will result negative then at least you will have nothing to worry about. But if there is something, it is better addressed at an early stage. Take it from one who had been there before. Ever since then , I've never delayed going thru medical test as I realized the importance of detecting it at an early stage than later. Hoping the best for you.

I recently found a lump on my thigh. Found it while leg was bent and rubbing lotion on it. It is hard and immovable and does not hurt. It is about an inch long and half an inch wide. I am going to my doctor in April for a check up. If anyone has any ideas about this, please respond! Maybe I should go sooner?

I found a lump in my right thigh about a week and half ago, it felt bruised when I touched it. It eventually got smaller and now its gone but it's left a small mark. Im booking a appointment tomorrow to get it checked out, Im really worried it might be something serious, any help would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Discoloured lump in left upper thigh and upper leg
I have a recurring problem ith discoloured lump in left upper thigh and upper leg. IT alway ubide and go away leaving a dark mark. It is only painful on touching. Just concerned as I notice it i here again. Not sure of the last time it came. Any advise

My husband has cancer in his leg. He grew a lump and then it got smaller then large again. I really hope everyone on here gets their checked out. He is NOT in the age bracket for his type of cancer.

solid and hard lump in my lower thigh?
i injured myself over a year ago, so i know it isn't cancer but i have this small golf sized solid really hard mass an inch above my knee on my thigh and it did not cause any pain until now, because im doing track and field.
the swelling and stiffness of my muscles are putting pressure on it and it REALLY HURTS.
it's very noticeable when you touch it, and from the side you can kind of see it.
any ideas?

Leg/thigh lump
I have a lump inside my right inner mid thigh region. It only hurts if I'm on my feet for a long time, running or am exercising. It has been there for about a year. It has never gotten any bigger it even seems to throb at times if I'm active enough. Any help would be appreciated.

lump on inner thigh
I just came home from a surgeons office to have the lump in my left upper thigh removed. I developed a cyst under the skin and had it lanced but the surgeon was more worried about the lump under the cyst (which i've had for about 20 years) well, he lanced the cyst, and went to work carving out this hard nodule of tissue which took him disecting it into 3 pieces to get most of it out. He said he had no idea what it was but it shouldnt come back. It was a white/peach color and solid but squishy and ive had it for so long i just figured it was a cyst that kept coming back...so now it's gone but i still dont know what it is.

Multiple Lumps
I noticed a hard lump in my Rt thigh (above where my surgery for a knee replacement was done years ago)several months ago, but I had just had a baby and didn't worry abt it. Recently, My leg has been hurting a lot more, muscles are always sore. I noticed that the lump in my thigh was now walnut sized and painful. I have also found 2 more lumps in my Rt thigh, 1 lump in my Lt thigh, 2 lumps on each upper arm, and a small lump in my Rt breast. Most are painful to the touch...they make the surrounding muscle sore. I am going to a greneral surgeon tomorrow to see about a biopsy or such. I'm 33yrs old and cancer is very prevalent in both sides of my family. I'm really scared!

I have the same thing. just found it and thuoght it was a split muscle injury seeing that i pulled my muscle playing softball and didn't notice it prior.went to the doctors anyway to make sure it was nothing else. he said it was lipoma (mass of fatty tissue) but can't be 100% sure. so i requested a mri to be totally positive, better safe than sorry. still need to go get the mri done. hopefully everythings ok. although i still think it might be a pulled muscle seeing that i didn't have it before the injury. otherwise worried since it grew rapidly.

Knot/Lump on thigh
I'm scared I have noticed this hard like knot/lump under my skin on m right leg. It hurts sometime on it's own but mostly when touched i've had it for about two weeks I don't have any insurance and don't know what to do. I'm very scared I didn't hit it or anything. What should I do?

lump in my inner thigh
I am concerned that I have this lump in my inner right thigh for about four weeks. It doesn't hurt at all. The only time I feel some burning feeling is when I sleep on it or when I hold something tight against it. Don't knwo what it is and very worried about it. Can you please help with some info?

large, soft-mass lump (softball sized)
I have a soft-mass lump on my outer right thigh which has almost doubled in size in a months time and is now painful upon palpation. I asked my Dr. about it when it was smaller and he quickly dismissed it as a lipoma with no tests. I'm getting concerned as I have also had some abdominal cramping, fatigue (possibly due to my fibromyalgia) and starting to get nauseous at times. I have lost no weight, though. Went to the ER when it started to get painful and they gave me some painkillers but no tests?? All i wanted was a diagnostic to know what it is. Anyone have any insight?
