2 Lung Nodules What Are They? Cancer Or Not Please Help

Hi/you say there is no definite timeline? Does that mean that I will have to be monitored indefinitley? And if thast the case why dont they just biopsy? Im very confused I really thought like 3 years was the guideline any further info on timelines for this would help

Hi I just was told I had both of these on my lungs. Does that fungus cause nodules also I have more than3 in each lung very small one I haft to go back in 3mo's for a ct scan.

hi im a mom of 4. 41yrs. old. never smoked. I was told in march 2008 that i had phnamonia that started my first chest scan which showed 0.3cm.nodule in the anrerior basal lateral basel junction of the left lower lobe. 3mo. latter had another lung scan nothing changed. but then i had to go again 3mo. latter for lung scan which changed drasticly got worse. it shows multiple small hazy nodulars densities involving the lungs bilaterally predominating within the upper lobes their is also a 0.7cm solid apearing nodule which has developed in the inferior segment of the left lingula since prior exam. I am having to wait on Dr. who is referring me to shands theoretic ongoloy department. I dont understand any of this medical words and the wait on Dr. app. is so stressful not knowing what to do. I think the worse and hope for the best, but not understanding is making it more stressful and hard to hold my self together for my 4yr. old, 6yr. and 2 teenagers. what is going on with my body?

Why not schedule an appointment with MD Anderson to get your second opinion? There is where the piece of mind will be.

when they find that you have these nodules,is it likely thay this is gonna get worse,and will it most likey turn to cancer if you keep getting more?they just found four on each lung,so worried.

I have 3 lung nodules,I recently had a follow up from last year. 2008 I was in a car accident and while doing a cat scan . They found a 0.6 cm in the left upper lobe.
Then on 10/28/09 they still saw the 0.6 cm in upper left lobe of the lung but also a 0.4cm in the right lower lobe.
Cat scan states no peridcardial effusion no mediastinal masses, or enlarged lymph nodes. the live,spleen and pancreas and both kidneys and the gallbladder are normal.
Recommendation : continue follow up with CT ches in one month to dtermine the progression.

A follow up was done on July 9th of 2009 it states the 6 mm is noncalcified in left upper lobe laterally is unchanged . The right posterolateral pleural plaquing measures 8mmtoday measured 5mm on the prior study. This would be withing technical slice variation. consequently no evidence of change in either. No change in the 4mm spiculated nodule on the right low lobe is stable Now though they have found another nodule which is 7mmin the posterior right lowe lobe and it states that it is stable. Report states that there is mild Lad calcification is seen. Nodes in the mediastinum are small uner 10 mm and unchanged.
Recommendation: Stability over two years is recommended.
Well my Doctor is not going to just sit and wait she doesnt think they are cancerous but wants to know if they can find the cause of these nodules . She is sending me to Shands Thoracic Oncology program clinic on the 27 of this month which is August. Any thoughts is there anyone here who is a doctor I would like to here a medical thought if possible Trish

My Husband has been through so much since September when his health started going down hill. He went from doctor to doctor trying to find out what was going on. Well said he has 6 nerve and emmune diseases. One day his stomach started hurting so bad that I had to take him in for a ct of the abd. Got a phone call saying the base of his lungs were not good that we needed to come in and do a chest ct. The results they were almost possitive it was cancer. We had a pet scan done and it showed multipal nodules in both lungs but no cancer. Well guess what I will never trust a pet scan again because he had to have part of his kidney removed and it is renal cell. Went to st.louis and had a lung biophsy done which before he started he said it was cancer. Well the test came back and says it was not. The cancer doctor said the only way we cn tell which ones are cancer and which ones are not is keep haveing ct scans done. I am about ready to lose my mind. Every doctor says it differantly. I don't know where to turn or what to thik anymore. Thanks for listening. I hope yo find your answer soon because it took us a long time. Take care If anyone can help please do.

i have A 48 YR OLD friend who had left shoulder pain, she underwent a ct scan only to find out that she had several nodules in both lungs, she has never smoked. she is schedualed for a lung biopsy in a week; and has had alot of blood work done but the doctors are being quite about what the results untill they get the biopsy done. she has no family and 2 kids; what are her chances of having cancer and surving if it is already throughout both lungs? can there be any other explaination for the so many nodules?

Laurene- You made a valuable point- u want to know what and why these nodules are in your lungs! I do not understand how a biopsy would cause any problems but only eleviate your concerns. Maybe get a second opinion?? I my self had a chest x ray done in Jan this year normal x ray however another x ray this month revealed One 5mm lung nodule upper right with shadowing and I had a cat scan done that shows multiple pulmonary nodules. My doc said she cant rule out cancer so I am scheduled for biopsy May 19th.
Have you seen a lung specialist Laurene? My doc said before I had my cat scan that if the cat scan doesnt show any other findings then she will just watch it and Id have to go 4 more times the next two years to keep watch on it for change and if there is change like in my case then thats when other tests would be performed to rule out cancer. Hope this was some help.
