Q: Add/adhd Kids & Food

I am a teacher with a student who has add/adhd. He is on meds & is a very active little boy (age 9).
The problem is that his mother feeds him mostly sugar & processed foods. Most of the time his school lunch consists of a huge bowl of colorful sugary cereal with milk & then some fake fruity drink with added sugar & artificial color & flavors.
I've read that such foods cause or at least worsen hyperactivity.
Does any one out there know about this? I've also heard of a Dr. Feingold & his diets for hyperactive kids. Any info?

First, I want to say congratulations on becoming a teacher. Not always an easy job and you definately deserve your credit for becoming a child mentor.

Anyway, you're correct about the link between add/adhd and diet.. But if you have any questions, feel free to ask and i'll answer.
