Hello i'm linda mother of three boys wife to hubby 33 years.

I think lupus was thrown at me very freely. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow. And he better be ready to answer questions and lots of them.
I seen a rheumatologist in march and ignored his prescription as he said and I was under the impresion they were for pain and I can control the pain with tylenol and don't want to take anything to strong yet. Only mild pain yet. Sometimes I believe I was misdiagnosed. I will definantly ask for another opinion. First rheumatologist said rheumatoid athritis. This last one I seen threw me lupus on the 17th of october. I asked and now what do I expect what do I do. What is the cause? I couldn't get no answers. He told me to see my family doctor. So I can't wait for tomorrow.
What are the questions I should ask?
Any help would be great as I just don't know nothing.
I'm on a medication called hydroxyquine which must have another name as I can't find nothing on it. Is this a steroid?

And sorry for writing a book and asking so much of your time.
Thanks to anything that might come up. Please help is needed.

Welcome linda c!

It is great to meet you!

Lupus is very hard to diagnose. There are some tests that you will definitely want to know if they have done them and what the results are/were:

ana
sed rate
c reactive protein
lupus anticoagulant (aps)
anti dna
anti-sm
anti- ro
creatine levels
bun levels
complete urinalysis

did the rheumatologist send you back to a gp? Usually a suspected lupus patient goes from a gp to a rheumy. Did I misread that?

There are a host of things you will want to take note of and ask. If you will pm me, I will get you a wonderful document to you that is as concise as possible and will help at your doctor's appointment.

Hugs,

Thank you lady and jeyney for pm it is always helpful to know that someone knows what we are going throught and how scarry this can be. I wrote all those test down to ask doctor about them. But the more I read about it the more I realize that it won't be a misdiagnosis I wouldn't be that lucky. Oh well that's life. Guess it could of been worse is the only way to look at it.

Laughing yes i'm happy I just felt it in my bones that it was a misdiagnosis and it was. Nothing in the tests came back positive. What happened last tests they were done in the summer and I have a fry stand and when I clean the grill I use an acid and that sent my blood in a turmoil they think because after retesting after being closed for almost two months every thing came back fine. Oh am I a happy lady. But i'll still come visist or can i.

Hi cjw! Welcome to the group!

There are lots of things you and your mother can do!
1) keep a daily diary of all of her issues...Pain levels, headaches, fevers, etc.
2) take your medical records with you. Make sure you have *all* of her lab results.
3) a good overall site...Www.Lupus.Org.
4) write down 10 questions you want answered by the doctor. Don't leave until they have been satisfactorily answered.

This is just the beginning...But a good place to start. If youhave any questions, ask away. There are some great people here with incredible knowledge on lupus.
