Q: Skipping Periods W/alesse

Has anyone here successfully skipped their period while taking alesse? I know in theory I should be able to skip mine without a problem as with alesse, each pill has the same amount of hormones, (excluding the placebos, of course).

I know period skipping doesn't work with pills that have fluctuating amounts of hormones, like ortho tri cyclen lo. I tried skipping my period while I was on that one, and it resulted in total disaster. I don't want to relive that scenario if I can help it! :)

thanks!
Nicole

I haven't specifically used alesse, but I also take monophasic bc. I haven't had any major problems skipping my period. I think the first time I got a little breakthrough bleeding, but it was real light. Shouldn't be a problem now that you're on alesse. :)

It is just up to your body. May as well give it a shot, but remember to let yourself have a period every third month.

Also, you can skip your period on any kind of pill, it is just some people can't do it successfully with the different hormones. I am not one of those people either, but several of my friends are on ortho and they skip very successfully.

No, I tried Alesse and when I started my second package I began bleeding, week 3 heavy bleeding, week 4 quit Alesse and bleeding so heavy with huge clumps,it is so scary and like something out of a horror movie!
