For the past 3 or so months my period has been about 5 days late. On the normal day I should get my period I have a brown discharge (like old blood) for about 5 days and then my period starts as normal. Can anyone tell me what this can be or why it is happening and when should I ovulate with this new cycle? Help...very confused!

Many woman spot before there actual peroid. I guess I would have to know if it was heavy or just spotty? About ovulation. There are inexpensive kits you can buy in the store to track your ovulation. If you are trying to have a child the test are worth it. If your worried about abnormal periods I would just watch it unless you have pain or signs of infection then dont be to alarmed. Stress, exercise and things as simple as other woman around can effect your peroid. relax and be sure to report any changes to your doctor.

Thank you...
so much for responding so quickly. The spotting is somewhat light but I do need a panty liner. It may be stress because I have had alot of that in the last several months. As far a ovulating, I was not sure if I start counting from the first day of spotting or the actual period. I have one of the kits...no refill sticks though.

Dont worry sweetie I would start counting from the first day of your actual peroid the spotting is normal and some woman do that.. In fact I do it so regular 2 days prior to the start and the day before I feel like I have the flu.. then like clock work.. my periods arrives. Like its a gift from heaven.. lol
