Q: Ear Tubes For Kids

My son is age 10 & has had 2 sets of tubes. One is still in but other has fallen out & he says the ear w/o tube ehcos & sounds will be loud. He blocks his nose & inhales to 'bring it back to normal'. Surgeon wants to put 't' tubes in both ears but i'm wondering if there is an alternative?
