I had a baby on sept 7th. Started up on yasmin a few months after. Took it for 3 months and then stopped for a week to have a period, started up again for 3 months and on this 3rd month I have been bleeding for 3 weeks even though I am on the pill. Does that mean it's not very effective and I could get pregnant? I am starting on another type of birth control but until that kicks in am I vulnerable to get pregnant?

It doesn't sound like you were taking it correctly. You should be taking the "active" pills for 3 weeks and the "inactive" pills for 1 week, during which time you will have a period. Actually yasmin is one of the best pills you can take, it's the most used pill in america.

You may also be experiencing some irregularities because you just had a baby. It will take 4-6 months of using the pill to get your cycle back on a regular pattern. I wouldn't give up on yasmin just yet. Also, you should probably be using a back-up method of birth control so you don't get pregnany again.

Thanks For the Advice
I actually was told by my ob to take if for three months and then have a period and then three months again. I called and the nurse told me to switch to a new kind of birth control so that is why I have changed to a new one. That is interesting about your headaches because I seem to have them more now then before. They are having me try estostrep, or something like that. If that doesn't work then I will try what you are on.

Thanks for the advice.

Hmmm...Maybe the estrostep will work better for you. A good friend of mine got headaches and stuff like that. They switched her to estrostep and didn't get those symptoms anymore. I hope that works better for you!!
