Hi, i'm new to the forums, but I was hoping someone could help me out.

To start off, my periods have never been normal. I might have one and then not have another for like 3 months. I've been to the Dr. She says this is normal, that this happens to a lot of people.

So, anyway, knowing that i'm semi-normal, I went to the gyno to get on birth control on jan. 25th. I had a period on nov. 20th, didn't have one at all in dec., and had my last one jan. 8th. She prescribed me aleese and said of course to start the sun. After my period.

Here's the problem....It's feb. 17th and no period. Normally I wouldn't care, like I said, that's normal for me. The thing is, i'm getting married april 16th. I know that I need to get this stuff in my system. I definitly do not want to get pregnant on my honeymoon!!

I can't seem to get ahold of my Dr. Today, so I thought i'd get you guy's opinion. Should I go ahead and start my pills this coming sunday , even if I don't get my period? Or will that mess something up??

Thank you in advance for your replies!!

Take care!

No you should not start the pill without your period you have to wait the first day of your period or the sunday after your period.

It might be okay to start because your periods are so irregular, but you should really talk to your doctor about this. You should call and talk to his or her nurse, they can recommend what to do.

Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding... That's exciting!!!

Thanks for replying...

I finally got ahold of my Dr. Last night... She said I shouldn't start my pills until after I started my period. She said they wouldn't be effective at all.

Bad news for me. :(

so...Presuming the worst..That I don't get my period soon, what else can I do??

No one wants to wear a condom on their wedding night, this will be my first time. What are my other options???

Hmmm...That's a tough one. I'm just not sure. I wonder why she said they wouldn't be effective? I guess my thought about it was that if you started taking the pills that that would start you on a regular cycle. But hey, i'm no doctor. My only other thought is maybe to get a second opinion from a different doctor to discuss what your options are.
