Q: Acne And the Pill?

A friend of mine has something going on with her skin. It looks like a combo of a severe breakout (big, red pimples) and very, very dry skin. I do not feel close enough or comfortable enough to ask her about it. I see her for a very short period of time weekly. My only thought might be something she may be taking to get pregnant or could it be a side effect of getting off the pill?!?

If there is such a side effect from taking something to get pregnant or from not taking the pill anymore, please let me know. She seems comfortable enough to go out in public, which is why I really don't feel it's appropriate to ask about it. Thanks!

Hmm... I know that most types of pills are actually supposed to help with acne.

She may need to have the Dr. Change her pills. She could be having a reaction to the type she's on.

Hope this helps!

Going off the pill can definitely cause acne.. I'm not so sure about the dry skin.. Maybe she started using products for the acne.. But when I went off of bc pills my acne went crazy. I recently went on the patch which has gotten it back under control..

It could also be some other medication she's on. Sometimes even acne medications make your skin worse before it gets better.
