Are you talking about the mirena iud??
It prevents sperm from fertilizing an egg.
In rare cases and egg could get
fertilized, but the iud would prevent it
from attaching to the uterine wall to grow
- it would just be flushed out of your
system.

mirena...abortofenic! Posted: 05-13-08 21:48pm
I had the mirena for almost two yrs and
just had it removed last week because i
found out that it was. yes it does prevent
the egg and sperm from meeting acting as a
spermicidal. But there are cases where the
egg and sperm meet. Therefore sperm
fertilizes the egg. (the begining of
conception.) The iud makes your uterine
wall thins so the egg does not attach. If
you are pro-life i would not recommend you
getting this....do natural family
planning.
options to try: cycle beads.....can
be bought online for less that $20.
