I have a thirteen year old son. He was diagonsed with epilepsy at the age of three... Started out as absent seizures not i'm not real sure what his seizures are... Here is what happens. About every 28-35 days he will wake up fine after about 15 minutes of waking up his head will bob every three or four sec. This will continue until we give him the diastat. He will sleep for a hour or two wake up eat like crazy and then sometimes get the hiccups. He will then be great for another month. He is on keppra and trileptal. He has been on 6-8 different medications. The Dr. Says he still has a great chance of "outgrowing" his seizures.... We live in ohio I am really considering going to cleveland clinic for another opinion.. Does anyone have any refferals for cleveland clinic.? Our current Dr. Sometimes seems a little puzzled over this case. Has anyone else had anything like this?? Thank you for your input!

Hi and welcome....I have seen absence seizures that do involve a head nod type thing. Not sure if that is what your son is doing now. Has the doctor tried an eeg around that time when he has them>? That would be the best way to tell....

How long are these lasting? I know you said they last until diastat. I would see if you can arrange to take him in to see a doctor during them if possible? Might not if you are too far away. Just a thought.

Cleveland clinic is good. I also hear great things about rainbow babies, I think it is called in that area as well. You may have a long wait to get into cleveland. Many find it a great place....

Best wishes for help!

Where about in ohio do you live? I live in ohio and my 8 year old has seizures. I am incredably happy with our newest nuro but unhappy about the surgeon and considering cleveland also. Let me know and good luck to you.
Feel free to email me any time with any questions :)

I have been to the cleveland clinic and highly reccomend it, if it was not so far from home that would be my regular doc.
If any one has question just email me.
