Alcohol Alergy Throwing Up Posted: 02-08-05 23:57pm
Hey.
In the past year I have been throwing up
about 85% of the time when I drink
alcohol. It does not seem to have
anything to do with how much I consume.
For example I can have two beers and throw
up just the same as if I had ten mixed
drinks. I do know it seems strong around
my period which is a time I feel nassua
alot. Am I allergic to alcohol? Could I
have an ulcer? Will I be able to ever
drink a normal amount agian without having
to be scared of getting sick?

It might just be b/c of the hormones
surrounding your period. I have that if I
drink like 4 or 5 days before my period or
on it. I will throw up. You should talk
to your doctor though just to make sure
you aren't allegeric to alcohol.

Is it when you drink any kind of alcohol
or specifically beer? I know you can
have allergies to certain ingredients in
beer and possibly wine (i've never heard
of an allergy to liquor).

Dont drink wow!!! Drinking isnt
everything in life you dont need to drink
to have fun if you cant drink your body is
telling you not to. Drinking is a waste
of time, money, health and in fact your
health doesnt sound like alcohol. Drink
soda!!

In the past few months I have been
experiencing the same problem of feeling
nausious and vommiting when I drink. I
am in the process of trying to figure out
why this is happening also. As you wrote
in your message I can throw up after
having only 3 beers. Seemed to come on
all of a sudden too. As for this
happening around the time of my period I
can't be sure because I am usually
irregular somtimes skipping 2-3 months
between. But I initially assumed that
would have somthing to do with it.
Did you ever look into this further?
Still having the same problem?
Curious to know.

Same Problem Posted: 01-01-07 20:22pm
I am having the same problem too. It's
only been happening for a year. I used to
never get sick. Now everytime I drink, I
throw it up in the morning. I feel so
sick to my stomach. I thought it was
because of my birth control pills but i've
stopped taking them and it still happened.
This really sucks.

Ahhh, the alcohol issue. I'm currently
working through this... Everyone always
thinks is pills they take or this or
that... Theres a checklist to look thru
if drinking any amount of booze is making
you sick.
-ulcer
-allergy
-anxiety
i found mine was anxiety. I am (or was)
a big drinker. Where I could have 10 or
11 beers and endless shots without ever
puking. And one day even I had half a
beer and emptied my guts out. So after
getting tested for ulcers, refulx etc...
I discovered it was a social anxiety that
literally developed over night. The only
way to really cure that is therapy. But
next time ur around booze really take a
minute to think about it. If it is just
you convincing yourself that you will be
sick, and therefore you get sick. Since
I dot have money or time for therapy, what
I do before I go to a party, is make sure
I go seperate from my friends so I can
leave whenever I feel I wantg to or need
too, seconly, I always go an hour before
everyone else so I can make myself
comfortable in the situation I will be in,
and after about 30 minutes of
familiarizing myself with the place, I
have a couple drinks and then I am ok once
all my friends show up. If you are
thinking to yourself "well I dont wanna
seem like a big loser and be there an hour
bymyself", do something productive with
that hour. If its a house party I always
go and help set up, or if its a club I
order a sandwich and watch the game if im
gonna be so early. You should really
give it a try, and make sure you use
mental blocks and dont think about being
sick. Just keep yourself occupied the
entire time. Be relaxed and dont stress
yourself out, and the nausia will go away.
Good luck!

Allergy to Alcohol Posted: 04-15-07 13:24pm
It's amazing looking back how many ways I
tried to deal with my addiction. The
marijuana maintenance program for one. If
I were allergic to strawberries for
instance I would simply avoid them.
Alcohol on the other hand is far more
complicated. There is a book out there
called "Twelve Steps And Twelve
Traditions" published by AA World
Services. Step one may be of interest.
Only you can say if you are alcoholic.
Allergies, as I understand not being a
Doctor, can take many forms. I am
alcoholic and my allergy involves
hypersensitivity and complete change in
behavior. My allergy will be with me for
life. I've tried every conceiveable way to
drink in might be considered a normal
manner. Only abstinence has provided
relief. If you find that you are unable to
stop on your own you are by no means alone
and the doors of AA are always open to
you. God bless you and good luck.

alcohol alergy Posted: 04-03-08 11:04am
i am suffering from this as well -
1st - the "just don't drink" is an
ignorant reply - have youe ever considered
how many foods have alcohol in them when
prepared? Pasta sauce, meats, vegetable
sauces - it isn't just about having a cold
beer - - but that's another issue...
I don't want to drink to excess any more
than anyone else - but I would like to
enjoy an occasional glass of wine out with
my husband, or a beer when watching
football - this isn't about what people
shouldn't do, it's about what I can't do.
Please share any findings that are found -
I'm desperate to figure this out! Thanks!

Talking About Drinking Posted: 05-12-08 01:13am
I thinking drinking is not totally bad to
our heath, because our body also needs an
alcohol, but not so much amount of
alcohol. Alcohol also give benefits to our
health if you use it in the good way,but
I'm not encouraging that we should drink.
I am only saying the good benefits of
alcohol.
so drink moderately.....
