Im Addicted to Sugar! Cant Control the Cravings! Help..... Posted: 02-08-05 16:01pm
Im 16 and trying to lose weight for my
prom in a few days... I can usually stick
to my diet pretty well each say up until
8:30 and for the rest of the night I get
the worst cravings for sugar! I usually
give in and end up ruining my whole day
that iuve been dieting... Why does this
happen! I personally love sweet foods
more then anything and eat alot of candy.
Im 125 and I just want to lose 5 pounds
and can usually do it in about a week
since my weight fluxuates alot. I just
need to stay off of sugar for the next few
days. Sometimes I crave it soo bad I eat
plain sugar. My mom tells me the only way
to not crave it is to not have any sugar
for at least a week or two. Ive tried so
mant time though and its impossible! I
feel like a smoker whos addicted to
cigarettes. Theres definately a problem
with that. I eat around 8 or 9 fruits a
day to try and get rid of the cravings.
Does anybody know why this happens and
what I can do about it.... I know its not
normal....

:? Yes, sugar is addicting. Our bodies
are born with a love of sweets because
that's where the calories are & in the
old days we needed to seek out high
calorie foods to survive. Nowadays food
manufactureres put sugar in everything
because they want you to be addicted &
to eat more of their products.
So you have to go cold turkey. And the
way to do that is ... With turkey! (and
other protein). Protein will help you
lose that sugar taste. So eat lean meats,
unsweetened dairy products (plain yogurt,
cheese, skim milk), nuts, seeds. Check
labels on bread, cereal, or crackers &
don't eat any with honey, sugar, or any
'-ose' word (sucrose, glucose). Eat lots
of veggies & low-sugar fruits (apples,
berries, pears, peaches).
It will get easier after the first week.
You may want to stay on this plan even
after the prom. Sugar is bad for you in
many ways, not just as a cause of
overweight but it makes you think less
clearly & makes you sick & tired
more easily.
Good luck!

Book Eating Disorders Posted: 07-16-07 13:44pm
My name is Frida and I’m from Sweden. I
have a short
question for you that I hope you could
answer. I’m
actually writing a book about eating
disorders in
different kind of ways and also other
forms of anxiety
about food, and I think that it would be
interesting
to get in touch with you (if you think
that you have
something to talk about). I’d love it if
you answered
directly to my e-mail, [removed]. If
someone
else would be interested in sharing their
experiences
or information (everything; overeating,
anorexia,
sugar addiction, bulimia, ortorexia and so
on) please
contact me. Obvouusly it’s anonymous and
you will of
course get at copy of the book.

Im really skinny, but I eat a lot. Many
people say it's not fair, but when they
get sick, can they see their bones?
Anyway... My bother is like you... sort
of... except he is 250 pounds...
I think the best way to get rid of the
craving is just to realize that you WANT
to lose weight... I'm probably not the
expert here, but I think the most
important part is realizing that you need
and want to lose weight and you are
willing to put a plan into action.
How about... instead of cutting cold
turkey... you give yourself some amount,
but increase your excorsize time? Than you
can have small amounts without going
completely cold turkey and you won't gain
wait...
