Q: Call a Baby a Baby

How many people who are pregnant say,ive got a fetus or embryo in here,?How many times do you turn round and say to a pregnant woman, how are you and the fetus? As far as I was concerned you usually say how are you and baby, when we talk to pregnant women its called a baby,so why are people using the medical terms, instead of what they normally would. Is this to dehumanise the procedure.Only a few people answered my question about doctors and only one doctor,so from that I will assume that steen is the only doctor here,so my question is,if there is only one doctor here why is everyone in pro choice using the medical term for a baby?.

well i"m not a doctor but I usually use the term fetus/baby the reason for this is that in the past on other forums I was using the term baby and got no debate just acusations of trying to emotionalise the board this as you can imagine did detract somewhat from the debate at hand.

So it is simply the fact that no acusations can be flung around from the term fetus/baby.

the question is do you use the word fetus or the word baby in everyday life,i do not think 99% of people call it a fetus do they. The saying goes : she is with child: not she is with fetus

Well I personaly call it a baby as that is what I beleive it to be from conception I don"t beleive that termination stops you being a mother..........Just makes you the mother of a dead baby.

Either way that baby was your baby.

I think I would use the term baby when it comes to asking people how their pregnancy is going because it's a term of endearment then, but in reality, it's not a baby until birth. They might be offended by me calling it a fetus so for their sake, I guess I would use baby.

maybe in the medical field it is not a baby till birth, but in the publics eyes has soon has you fall pregnant then it is a baby.Calling it a zygot or embryo whilst medically correct is not the term used by 90% of the world.

I could careless what people call it. People say *health forum all the time, and that means a dog, but do you see people walking around calling their dogs health forum? There are so many words in this world that are used for other things. Who cares?

The problem, of course, is when this is done for outright deception, to try to make the zygote, f.Ex., look like a 2-year-old. Downright deceptive, downright dishonest attempt at emotional manipulation. If all you can do is base your argument on deception, then you really don't have much of an argument.

Especially when looking at an issue where the developmental stage *does* matter, such as is the case in abortion where the legal and medical issues are highly dependent on the developmental stage. In that discussion, trying for deception and blurring of the facts is downright dishonest; it is a direct intent to lie.

I generally ask, " how is the pregnancy coming along?" or "how far along are you in your pregnancy now?" or I don't say nothing about it because they are the ones that talk about it first and I just let them talk on.
Sincerely,
sandy

Kourtney--it is an argument because everytime a pro-life person refers to a baby we are told that we are *liars* and *trolls* so therefore it is an argument...So if it's not an argument to you then why respond to the post?

Because theres this little thing called freedom of speech sweetie, it allows me to state my opinion, whenever, and wherever I want. Isn't that cool?

Anyways, if its an argument, its a very petty and pointless one. But whatever, argue about it if thats what you realllllllly want. ;)

Exactly how did I question your opinion..Please explain that...

You said that it wasn't an argument...I told you why we see it as an argument.....

I just wonder if it's *pointless* and *petty* to you why you bother to argue if it's not an argument?

Steen: "the problem, of course, is when this is done for outright deception, to try to make the zygote, f.Ex., look like a 2-year-old."

appart from looks there is no real difference and since we dont go arround killing "ugly humanoids", looks do not define a human person.

You see the problem with our society is its become so self centered, its only concern is our personal rights. We claim freedom to choose is our right, and it is, but some also believe it is also their right to define for themselves what is and what is not.

For example

they define that a fetus is not a human person so now they then can say abortion does not effect the rights of anybody, but making it ilegal would effect the rights of the woman, who they have so happened to have as their right defined a woman as a person.

So now I say its my right to define ugly people as "ugly humanoids" and my right to define humanoids as none persons, now that I have taught this to the world via media, university theology ect, everyone knows that "humanoids" are not living human persons, therefore it is our right to freedom of choice that allows us to terminate these "ugly humanoids" if we so choose, I am affraid many people in society are being used in this manor.

What is wrong with me defining for myself what is and what is not, if there are no concreate truths or morality, or in other words truth and morality are subjective to ones own ideas of morality and truth.

So what "steen" is saying is:

it is his right to define what is and what is not, and he has defined "looks" as being part of what makes us human persons, what really scares me, is that he also reserves the right to define what these "looks" are.... Very very nazi type ideology.

I am not saying that steen, himslef is doing this, just that groups in society are doing this, thus enslaving the population to their ideology of their right to define what is and what is not.
