Hi,
i had my gb out in 11/05. What I did
previous to having it taken out was stayed
on a low fat diet. This prevented any
flareups until I had the surgery and as a
result I lost 20 pounds!
The best that worked for me was no eggs,
cheese, dairy, milk, chocolate, butter
(goes without saying) caffeine and no red
meat! And I love steak. Eat alot of
turkey & chicken. Believe it or not
these are very very fatty. Normally I
wouldn't think so but staying away from
those should help in your wife's
discomfort.
Hope that helps...It is a life changing
thing but once in awhile splurge a little.
Hey so far I havnt heard of anyone younger
than me getting six gallstones and my
gallbladder removed but i had mine out
when i was 10. Eight years ago. The
doctors in the hospital said i was the
youngest that they knew of but i was
wondering if there was anyone younger out
there. Peace

there is life after gall bladder! Posted: 04-07-08 12:05pm
My surgery was 1 month ago. To start with
my surgeon told me to watch the fat intake
and eat blan. I did so and did ok. Spicy
foods to start with were very upsetting to
my system. The surgeon put me on Nexium
and also gave me Levcin (for irritable
bowel syndrome) as needed. They also
suggested I start on a path of Metimucil.
I got the "berry burst" that you mix with
water and it's actually good (as fiber
goes). I no longer need the Levcin. The
dr said the excess bile causes the
intestines to contract and the fiber
actually absorbs the excess bile. It works!
(so far). I will admit if I go for that
fried chicken that I love so much, I pay
for it, but I had prayed that God would
help me lose some weight and be healthy.
Well, it seems I got my prayer answered
because fat foods don't even taste good
anymore not to mention I don't like the
affects on my body....I have lost 12
pounds too! Try the fiber!
