Q: Nearly Constant Stomach Problems.....

Ok.....I am 19 and up until about a month ago had really no abnormal stomach problems. Then over christmas break, there was one week where every single day I woke up feeling so nauseous, afraid I would throw up. I never once threw up or actually got sick though. It would get better through the day, I wasn't eating much lunch, then after I ate dinner it would hurt again. Like I said, lasted a week and then I was back to normal. Now it seems that atleast once a week, usually more often, I have kind of re-occurances. I've also started having very frequent heartburn/indigestion. When I take an antacid for the heartburn, it will help ease my stomach a bit. I've also kind of been alternating b/t constipation and then not quite diarrhea, but close. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be? I would really appreciate any input at all!

Hi there! Sorry to hear about your problems, I have been there and still have some problems. I am not a Dr., have you talked to your Dr. About this? It sounds like it could be i.B.S(irritable bowel syndrome), galbladder problem or gerd, you might even need to get a colonoscopy, again, I am no Dr., it does sound like something you should get checked out, please keep us posted.
The best to you!
Sincerely,
sandy

It sounds like what I had over the month of december.. Which turned out to be a stomach bug that just wouldn't go away!! It doesn't sound like ibs because that wouldn't make you nauseaous... I was constantly nauseaous (mostly after I ate or when I woke up) and it seemed like no matter what I ate it just made it worse.. I would go back and forth between the diarrhea and constipation as well. It gradually got better and took over a month to fully go away. I would keep an eye on it.. But the fact that it came on suddenly makes me think you have something viral. It could have irritated your stomach to be causing the reflux. I would try taking the prilosec otc medicine once a day for the next two weeks to get the heartburn down.. This may ease the reoccurence of the stomach aches.. Also, if your stomach is still not settled down it can cause indigestion which can cause diarrhea or contipation.

Thank you both so much for replying! I'll try and wait it out a little longer...I've been taking the generic pepcid for the heartburn and it helps! If it doesn't go away soon, i'm gonna call the dr's and see if they think I need to come in. Thanks again!

Somthing New Now...
Okay, the upset stomach is pretty much gone now, finally! But it seems like I get full really quick when i'm eating, but a few hours later i'm starving already! Any ideas about what it could be, or is still just me getting over a stomach virus or something? (if thats what I had)

Sounds like it might just be your body compensating for not eating normally from the stomach "bug".. Sounds normal.. It's a pain isn't it!
