I recently took my son to the doc where a fair size lump was discovered on his throat the doc told me it was probably a mucas cyst but ordered an ultrasound to be sure, however at the ultrasound exam they said it certainly did not feel like your typical cyst because cysts usually have fluid in them this did not. I have not got the report from my family doc yet but i'm very concerned, just wondering if mabey anyone has heard of this or gone through anything similar to this ....Thnx for reading .

Re: Lump
I just wanted to fill you in, I have found out what the lump was...The medical term is a thyroglossal duct cyst. It happens in about the 5th to 8th week of pregnancy and can be removed, needless to say i'am relieved to know it is not some kind of tumor...Thank you for reading

Lump On Neck
Hello I have noticed that you posted this a while back. I recently became a member after I discovered that this website existed. I was hoping that you or anyone can give me some insight on the recovery of surgery from a thyroglossal duct cyst. My 8 year old daughter is due to have surgery on jan 8, 2007. Im so worried and concerned. Did your baby boy have the surgery to remove his cyst? If so, how was his recovery. Thank you for your information.
