I would like to hear peoples opinions on
something.
Can this war be solved through
education,or should I say better
education,whether it be about birth
control or even educate people about the
reasons for terminations,we might get a
better informed generation of people who
will be able to sort it out factually and
not just emotionally. They do not teach
people about terminations and the reasons
behind, maybe if they did things might be
better all round with less emotions
involved and more fact, might that not also
cut down on the violence.Teach them better
about birth control and there might be
less need for terminations. We should be
fighting for better birth control with
less chances of failure.Instead of trying
to tear each others arguments to pieces

I have to agree that better education is
definatly needed! Most birth control
failures are due usuage errors not the
product itself...Birth control is a great
thing but useless if you don't know how to
use it properly.

Great.

well, I know a woman who got pregnant 3
times while on the shot, and twice with bc
pills. I can see it being her fault
because she didn't take the pills right,
but the shot? The nurse does that and its
once every 3 months, so I don't see that
being the womans fault.

that has been tried. Of
the more than 6 mill people serviced by pp
in (i think) 2002, only about 15-20%
received abottions. Most were receiving
pregnancy tests, contraceptioves or
low-cost basic pap smears and similar.
But when the catholic bishop of south
dakota discovered that there was a link on
the state teen info website that provided
a link to pp's education on contraception,
he asked to governor to immediately shut
it down. As long as the catholic church
(and far-rightwingers like eagle
forum/phyllis schl;afley) have the ear of
the government, any such goal of better
and cheaper contraception will be shut
down.
Likewise, if we made it more attractive
for young women to actually carry to term,
we would see fewer abortions. That would
mean more support for these women, which
is a red flag to conservatives who see
them rather as welfare leeches. Fine to
stop them from abortions, but afterwards,
they should be ashamed of having gotten
pregnant to begin with and thus trying to
cheat the conservatives off their
hard-earned money. S the conservative
selfishness contradicta that as well.

but instead, we have
silly and iffective "abstinence-only"
sex-ed, which other than having been
proven to not work, also have been proven
to outright lie,as it really is not
sex-ed, but rather is teaching of
religious dogma. When religion intrudes
in science, the best we can hoep for is
the inquisition.

A lot of abortions are due to
contraceptive failures of one form or
another. The last data available (a
study quoted in the 1997 cdc annual
abortion survey) showed 58% of those who
sought abortions having used
contraception. Yes, many were failure of
use, but there is a failure of the
contraceptive as well.

Around here access to birth control is
pretty available...Our local health dept.
Bases their fees on income....And it ends
up being free for most people because your
income has to be rather large in order to
not qualify for help. My best friend goes
there and she pays $15 for a 13 month
supply of b/c pills....I think they are
free for people ages 12-18 but i'm not
exactly sure of the ages....
I just wish this were a reality for many
other places....

Im sure it is a reality to a lot of girls,
and im sure a lot of girls have taken
precautions. Im sure a lot of girls
haven't also, but im sure they know about
it. The fact is contraceptive fails, and
if a 13 year old is having sex while on bc
and gets pregnant and she knows her body
can't handle having a baby she should have
the option to have an abortion.

Steen I am glad I am english[no offence to
anyone]but from what you say there really
is not much in the way of help for these
women from the goverment. As I have stated
elsewhere I do not believe religion has a
place here because of the different
religions all putting thier own
interpretation on to the bible.Roman
catholics are one such religion, you cannot
use b c but you cannot have an
abortion, nowhere in the bible does it say
no contraception is allowed, they have put
thier own interpretation on to the
bible. We should strive to change peoples
idea of termination and stop religion
interfering with peoples lives[free will
and all that}i believe that abortion
should be an option and I think we do need
to re-educate the populus regarding
abortion

no, truthful people who
teach facts need to teach them. You have
no place there, so your "we" is rather
ridiculous.

actually, birth control
comes before *birth.* so abortion is a
form of birthcontrol, where the others
fail.

.....How obnoxious and instigating this
was. Was it necessary and did it further
your abortion argument? Absolutely not.
The we was a generalization and I could
teach contraceptive just as much as the
next.
Thanks. |
well, you have shown
yourself untrustworthy. You have shown
yourself a habitual liar. As uch, no I
am not sure you can teach anything as much
as the next person.
