I am about to have a hysterectomy on the 18th of May after years of Endometriotis*not sure how it spelt* bad pain and heavy periods. For 45 days at a time clots size of a golf ball and some time between golf balls and tennis balls. I am having this to stop the bleeding expecting a few weeks after bleeding but to see you all having this still after 3 5 6 and year after operation. Was wondering if you had to do it all over again would you do it again the Hysterectomy i think this might be off topic but getting information from you people would be greatly appreciated.

Bleeding after Hysterectomy
Hi, I'm 39 and 2 mo. out from complete hysterectomy. The Davinci robot was used for my surgery and I found out just recently that 20% of all women having had the Davinci used are sewn up incorrectly (compared to 10% with traditional method). This is creating bleeding from the incision site inside. "Deep" sex is still impossible for me because it is literally tearing me open and creating the small amounts of blood I am experiencing (sorry so blunt) but you don't have to have sex for it to bleed, the wound is simply not healing properly. Chemical cauterization seems to be the answer for me, it was in office with a q-tip and chemicals. Unfortunately I got over confident and had sex...back to the doctor. I hurt, feel bloated and BM feels like labor. He did tell me that if the cauterization doesn't work he'll have to go in manually Sad
Hope this helps someone! Take care all.

Hi, i thought after having a hysterectomy that you wouldn`t see blood anymore, and after 8 years now i see blood. I got really scared. I`m going to my Dr. today and to see what this is. I had everything taken out too, so where is the blood coming from? I hope everything is ok, i have 5 children too.

I'm 6 months post op, total hysterectomy (vaginally), both ovaries left in and a big cyst removed from one of them.
Recovery was fantastic and uneventful. I followed the rules to the letter and went back to work part time a month ago.
This morning, I went to the loo and I had red spotting. After picking myself up off the floor and once i'd stopped crying, I phoned my GP and went for an emergency appointment.
Doctor had a good look around inside and he swabbed also. There was a reasonable amount of fresh blood and I started crying again. After i'd calmed down, he explained that what seems to have happened is a small area that was the site for attachment of the uterus has not healed as it should have done by now. I explained about how i've done nothing to prevent myself getting back to normal. He says this does happen but i'm in the medical profession and have NEVER heard about this. Apparently it is very common but surely the whole point of going through such difficult surgery is to prevent ANY more bleeding???? I've checked the usual websites and I can't find any info on this subject.
Doc is re-referring me back to my specialist and i'm back wearing bloody pads AGAIN.......so not happy......

Hi dizzyb123...This does happen every once in a while...The doctor will probably cauterize this area and you will be fine...It is painless...I know I had the same thing that was found during an examination...Take care...

Thanks Caroline. I was in such a state last week after suddenly seeing blood again after an uneventful 6 months of recovery. And I was so angry....no one warned me this could happen. My first panicky thoughts were that what was happening was so serious. My imagination went into overdrive!!!!
Thank you so much for making me feel so much better. Am now just waiting to hear from my consultant so I can go and get this issue dealt with asap....

Bleeding months after hysterectomy
Hi folks
Just to give everyone reading this some updates, I had my consultants appointment yesterday for the bleeding issue. I'd been so bloody scared about what was happening and the simple fact that I was seeing blood months after having a major op like a hysterectomy was freakin' me out. I told the wonderful and experienced consultant all the issues etc. She was amazing and comforted me as best she could. After she thoroughly examined me she said their was an area in the upper portion of the uterine vault that obviously hadn't healed correctly. The options were to have it dealt with there and then i.e. cauterization or to come back and have it dealt with as a minor op under anaesthetic and lots of extra hassles. I decided to go for it and she professionally and quickly dealt with the area there and then. There was pain and some mess and today i'm having aches and pains etc but am happier knowing that maybe this is finally over.
Hope this helps other people.....

bleeding after a total hysterectomy
Hi there! so glad to find this site! I had an total abdominal hysterectomy (both ovaries, uterus and cervix removed) five and a half weeks ago after being diagnosed with adenomyosis, a very painful thickening and enlargment of the uterus. After having sex for the first time yesterday (our anniversary), I had no pain or bleeding. After having sex today, I was shocked to find a moderate amount of bright red blood. I didn't have pain right away, but had a small amount of abdominal discomfort a few hours later. Being a nurse myself, this did freak me out! I was so worried that I resumed sex too early, and should have waited 4 more days until my actual 6 weeks post op. Needless to say, this site has helped ease my mind. I see the doctor in 5 days for my 6 week post op follow up appointment. Now I know what questions to ask and what answers to expect from my doctor. Thanks for all the comments and answers, it certainly has helped!

Post op stuff
Hope you are ok IM. This type of bleeding and discomfort is quite normal according to the two UK consultants i've seen recently. The 2nd consultant was surprised when I told her I actually don't have either after sex. She said this happens to most women post-op and especially if quite soon after the op. But having said all this you should get checked out. Let us know how you get on.

bleeding after hysterectomy
my wife had a total abdominal hysterectomy one week ago. she started bleeding two days ago, and freaked out. We have a Dr's appointment tomorrow. She asked me to look up information online, and here I am. now we know this is more common than not. She says the fiber I have been forcing her to take (she thinks it's disgusting) definitely helps ease the bowel movement. Looks like there will be no sex involved, however, for approximately ten years, thanks girls for scaring her. We'll address these issues with the doctor tomorrow. we'll keep you posted, hopefully with a smile on my face.

Bleeding after sex post hysterectomy
Hi
I'm 32 and had a hysterectomy 5 months ago (uterus and cervix) and until now sex was fine. The last time I had sex there was a slight watery pink discharge. Not painful. As it's been the best thing I've done and I feel fantastic, its a little worrying. Any thoughts?

bleeding after hysterectomy
I'm 45 and in March 2011 had complete abdominal hysterectomy (they took everything)because I had endometriosis. I have a small amount of bleeding during sex now, but after reading all this, I'm thinking it's probably from tears like my doctor told me, just need to be little more carfeful. Thanks to all who have posted. Other than the slight bleeding during sex, I haven't felt this good in for a couple of years.

Post hysterectomy bleeding
I had a hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair in May this year. Bleed after even gentle sex and for a few days after, albeit slight. Doctor said not to worry. Could you advise please?

I had a partial hysterectomy back in March, never had no problems after surgery. I've been doing really well, up to a few days ago. I started lightly spotting and a clear discharge. I'm also having some cramps. My doctor just removed my uterus. I still have my cervix and ovaries. Is it normal to have spotting and cramping? I would like a reply as soon as possible.

Cramps after total hysterectomy
I had total laparoscopic hysterectomy 11 days ago. No penentrative sex yet although we've had 'alternative' sex 4 times. I orgasmed 2 days after surgery and it wasn't the worst ever!

I take 2 Fibogel sachets in water once or twice a day and these pretty much keep the cramping down to a bearable level. Before I started taking the fiber the cramps had me bed bound; they were unbearable. I was planning to stop taking them at the 10 day mark but may up that to 14 days.

I had no bleeding at all at first but have light bleeding now. From everything everyone says on here it really isn't an issue so I'm gonna leave it for a while to see if it resolves.

sutures after LAVS
I had a laparoscopically total hysterectomy for uterine prolapse over two weeks ago. The last few days I feel like something is about to fall out of my vagina. I can feel the sutures and a clump of tissue right at the opening. Is this normal? Is it granulated tissue? Will it fall out on its own? It's not painful but feels like something is stuck in my vagina, which is like the sensation I had when my uterus had prolapsed into the vagina.
