Hi my name is caroline, i'm 20 yrs. Old,
and for about the past 7 years of my life
i've had doctors insist I have lupus, but
the blood work would never prove it
(always told to wait another year). I
have most of the symptoms, arthralgia,
fever, fatigue, hair loss, headaches and
chest pain. My issue is the chest pain -
it has my doctors at a loss. They are
insistent that no-one my age should have
"so many problems" I was wondering if
anyone else could describe their chest
pain and if they had it at/around my age.
I've been a big advocate for trying to
find out whats going on and being patient
with the doctors, but once my aunt died
(age 31) not knowing why she had the same
symptoms, I became more active and more
persistent in trying to find out if it is
my family's genetics. Any additional
information is greatly appreciated!
Muchos besos,
caroline

Welcome caroline,
i've ended up in the emergency room a
couple times this year with chest pain and
they couldn't figure it out either.
Well, I started doing research myself and
came up with the answet,
"costocondoititis".
It is an inflammation of the cartilage
that joins the sterum and ribs.
Sometimes it comes on gradually and
sometime it comes on rapidly like a
heartattack. I was the heart attack
kind. You can go to
"nationallibraryofmedicine.Org" and look
this up. More importantly, keep this in
your favorites so every time you get a new
diagnoses or symptom you ccan look it up.
This site will hook you up to john
hopkins, mayo, cinncinaty clinic, medline
and all the other health sites.
Good luck

Re: Floating By Lupus Posted: 05-13-05 02:28am
Hi caroline,
i'm 35 years old and I think I have lupus
although not yet diagnosed. I've lost a
lot of my hair and don't know if the cause
of it is the disease or a stressful event
(marriage problems) the doctors don't know
either. I'm very scared that my husband
will leave me or that he will find
somebody with hair. Idon't know what to
do, anyhow I experience the same chest
pain that you mention and the doctors say
it's nothing to worry about, something
that some women have, but i'm sure that
they are wrong and that it is related to
the lupus. Keep pushing doctors so that
they will perform the right tests. That
is what i'm doing.
