heartbeat in left ear and heart
SInce I have had poor dental work, esp. on the left side of my mouth (to the point that I had to have a debridement for cellulites) I have had a heartbeat in my left ear. It wakes me up in the middle of the night. It feels like pressure and most times feels like pushing on a nerve and also causes increased heart rate. It also happens during the day sometimes but can be very prominent at night when lying flat. I believe the poor dental work has left me with residual problems. If anyone has any thoughts on this, please comment. Thank you.

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension
Swooshing noise in the ear can be related to Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension:

I just discovered this today: this condition has been driving me bonkers since last June, mostly when I'm trying to sleep. It feels like my head is going to pound off my neck.

The swooshing of my pulse in my left ear happens even when I'm just sitting down doing nothing. Not related to stress, near as I can tell.

For IIH there is a drug they can try you on called Acetazolamide. It's used as a diuretic.

Hope someone finds this helpful.

I have found that putting an ear plug in my left ear the heartbeat sound goes away. I do this mainly at night when I go to bed. These are the sponge type earplugs that expand in the ear to protect from load sounds.

Heart beat in your ear.
I know if you are pregnant and you can hear your heart beat in your ear, its because your blood flow has to work twice has hard as normal due to the baby. I had this rally bad when I was pregnant, but unfortunately I still have it now, more in my right ear and my daughter is nearly 3 yrs old. Ive been to the Dr and got the usual fob off, `Oh your probably just listening out for it'. What an insult. Its frightening when your Dr`s dont take you seriously!
