Q: Eczema???

I am a 52 yr. Old male with no prior history of skin problems. About 6 months ago, red, itchy spots appeared on the tops of both of my feet. The itch would get so intense that my only relief was to scratch them until they bled. The redness has spread on my left foot so that it covers most of the top of it.

I have tried just about every ointment I can find at the store for skin itch. While I may get some relief, the condition has not gone away. At times it seems to "dry up" and get very scaly as the top layer of skin flakes off, but it comes right back. :(

i probably need to see a doctor, but I am hoping someone can say..."oh,..I had that! I put _____on it and it went away forever".

Man, I hope this is not eczema, as i'm told there is no cure for it.

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, you do need to see a doctor to have him perscribe you something. But, maybe I think it just might be atletes foot from the sounds of it, and if it is your doctor will give you something to get rid of it. Keep me posted! Hopefully I was a little bit of help.

I don't think it's athletes foot. I've tried ointments and sprays for that and it hardly helped at all.

I'm considering spraying my feet with gasoline and setting them afire. I'll bet that would cure it!

Do I need to see a dermatologist or just a regular doctor?

This May Help
Not a doc but have a similar condition by your description. It does sound like you have a form of eczema. By all means get to a dermatologist. Eczema can be controlled, however rarely cured. I had it quite severe, hands, legs, feet. Sever dry skin, cracking and itchy. Here are a couple of things that may help.

Go to the interent and get some regina creme. It is a good product and apply it daily.

Also try this, not a known cure but damn if it didn't work for me. Get some vitamin e gel caps, 400 mg. Bite off the end and squeeze the liquid onto the affected area and rub it in lightly. It cured my hands and wrists in about 4 hours and the eczema has all but disappeared. I will let you know if it works long term. First time in 3 years my hands have not had cuts on them.
