How Accurate Are Ultrasounds?
Posted: 01-26-05 13:37pm

I just wanted some opions on how accurate ultrasounds can be. I wasn't getting periods because I stopped taking birth control so I have to rely on the ultrasounds. The first one I had was on oct 18th they said I was 8 wks 2days. I had another on nov. 14th and I was 12 wks. I had another on dec. 15th and I was 16wks 5 days and the last one on jan. 11th I was 19wks. They all match up so is that reliable enough?

The u/s are prety reliable and as they are all matching up seems like it's correct.

U/s are very accurate to the date. They also do a blood test to match up dates as well. The earlier the pregnancy the better. And it seems like to me the dates and sizes are matching up by what you are telling us. So good luck and congrats. Everything will be fine

I never got blood work done to see how far along I am. Since i'm 22 wks, is that to far along to get it done? Are the ultrasounds alone accurate enough?

well yeah they wouldnt do blood work now to confirm dates. But the u/s is accurate enough. I had an u/s blood work and more done and all the dates added up to te u/s. So dont worry everything is fine and your dates are very accurate.

when I was pregnant I was told they are normally accurate within about 4 days. So you could be 4 days earlier or later than they estimate.

Did you have your baby already? And if so was your due date accurate to your ultrasounds? Also, thank you for your responses. I appreciate it :d
