I was in the colorado river much of the time for 3 days. I ended up getting an ear ache that eventually went away. Then it came back again and I went to the doctor. The pain was unbearable. They gave me ear drops (neomycin and polymyxin b sulfates and hydrocortisone otic solution usp) and I took them according to directions for 4 or 5 days. My infection still resided and I went to the emergency room exactly 7 days later to get some more advice. He just told me to continue taking the drops. Well, this was over the summer and my infection remains dormant deep in my ear and sometimes flares up, like it is right now. If I sleep with my bad ear toward the ceiling, problems can arise. If I take a shower and some slight moisture remains and I sleep with my ear up, the infection will flare. If I go surf, more than likely, I will flare.
Does anyone have a solution for this infection?
