I Think Im Depressed
Posted: 01-25-05 15:02pm

Hi, im 18 years old and I think I might be depressed. I cry alot about nothing at all really. I often feel like I am scared about what could happen and that I will end up alone. I always try to tell myself that I will be fine and everything will go away. But I often feel sad for no reason. My parents say that they think something is wrong with me but I wont talk to them about it..Im scared to I think. I dont know who to talk to about this. Part of me wants to figure things out on my own but I know I need someone to talk to. I want to tell my mom but I know if I told her that I think I was depressed she wouldnt handle it well. I would rather tell my boyfriend but I am scared to as well.. I love him but I am scared that me saying that I might be depressed could affect our relationship... I dont know to to do and I dont even know if im depressed. Can anyone help me out?

im sorry you feel so alone. I cant speak for your mother but I can
speak as a mother of my own 18 yr old daughter. It wouldnt matter
to me what my daughter came and told me my only concern would be to get her help and feeling better. It just so happens during my daughter's senior year in high school (she graduated last year) she became so
stressed, crying constantly, irritable, tired etc. That she ended up going
on a antidepressant. She just started college last fall and is still taking
the antidepressant. Depression is very common at your age, im sure
your parents will understand how could they not, they love you. Talk
to them. Hang in there, rani
