Q: Condom Types

Hello! Every time my fiance and I buy condoms we usually end up getting a different type. We always buy the same brand but have been having problems with some types breaking easier than others. What types of condoms seem to be the most durable? Thanks girls!

I get tested for hiv regularly because I am paranoid freak. I just changed over to kaiser as my hmo, and had to sit with an hiv counselor for the first time today. She told me that using latex condoms is the only way to reduce the chance of getting stds. I have been using latex free condoms for quite a while now and had not idea it was only reducing my risk of pregnancy. It's like i've been having unprotected sex!!

I have had almost 20 partners and am really disgusted with myself that I having used better discretion in my life. Well, i'm 24 and now is my chance to shape up I guess.

Anyway, this excessive amount of slutty experience has tought me a thing or two about the condoms I prefer. I like trojans. The one that are in the dark blue or the light blue box are the ones I tend to go with. I was using trojan supras, but will not use them anymore because they are latex free. I stay away from anything that says "sheer" or "super sheer." while they may feel better for both parties, they tend to break in my experience.

I like durex warm sensations! It has a special warming lube that is both inside and out-for both of you to enjoy. My husband had a hard time(no pun intended!) with other brands feeling too fake and constricting, but he love these!

Consumer reports just tested condoms. Top 7 for strength and reliability are:

in order from cheapest to most expensive

1 - trojan, non-lubricated

2 - trojan, ultra pleasure spermicidal lubricant

3, 4, & 5 are the same price

3 - trojan, extended pleasure climax control lubricant

4 - durex, extra sensitive lubricated latex

5 - durex, performax lubricated

6 - lifestyles, classic collection ultra sensitive lubricated

7 - theyfit, extended pleasure climax control lubricant

Trojan's are my personal favorite. They're thick enough that they don't break, but not too thick and you can still feel some of the pleasure and warmth. Stay away from durex, as they break pretty much every time i've used them.

Also, if you're going to use a separate lubricant, make sure it's water based (i.E. K-y or astroglide) and not oil based (i.E. Vaseline) as the oils will cause microtears in the latex which will make it less effective and more prone to breaking.

Hope this helps,
justin

Condoms Down
This may not be relative to the topic, but I need some advice!! I think a condom is lost inside of me and I was wondering if it would come out on its own or do I need to have it removed? Will it be harmful to my health?? Please help! :(
