I have a couple of questions!! As I mentioned in my first post that I just found out on monday the 17th that I have epilepsy. I have an appointment to see my neurologist on tuesday. But if you can help me answer a couple of questions, I would appreciate it!!!

1. The day my gran mal seizure happened, I was having some major pain in my chest and the paramedic told me that it was probably from lack of oxygen because I did turn blue, so I was with out for a little bit. The paramedic said I was out for about 45 minutes when I finally came to in the ambulance. My problem is though, it's been almost a week and I am still having almost as much pain in my chest, is this normal?

2. What happens if I have another seizure, I am not supposed to go to the emergency room every time I have one, right??

Any information you can give I would appreciate it!!!

Thanks,

christie

Hello
How are you?
The reason that your chest hurts so bad is from the oxygen that the paramedics gave you. It also happens to me. It irritates you they do it to bring you back faster.

Just tell your dr all the things that you feel and write them down. How bad are your seizures, things like that. And in time you will know when you should be at the er.

Wondering how your doing. Please make sure you write
it all down. Also you might ask your doctor how long the
pain should last after the need of oxygen and the seizure.

My first seizure was a grand mal during delivering my daughter...I was already at the hospital, which is a good thing, because I wasn't getting oxegen and almost died..I have no memory of giving birth......But, that was 11 years ago and I haven't had a grand mal since......I am on meds and your doctor will most likely put you on some and you'll see which ones work for you....You may become seizure free or you may have them here and there still, but hopefully they won't be grand mal's....The meds have side effects, so you'll have to see how you react...Everyone reacts differently to the meds........Good luck

Feelgood, what a scary intro to epilepsy!! Was your child ok? Hoping that things are going well for you now! Great that you have gone 11 years with no more grand mals!
