Bacterial Vaginosis ?'s
Posted: 01-22-05 16:51pm

I'm new here and have been searching through alot of pages and have not found a topic on this. I saw some people mention they get bv constantly and dont know what to do about it.

Well I have the same problem and for the past 4 mths straight I have reoccuring episodes of this and it is soooo annoying!!!! First I hear it is *not* sexually transmitted then I hear it *is possibly*. I only use non-scented soaps, where cotton underwear (just recently read a post where I should try just white cotton underwear), I dont take bubble baths, and dont douche or use anything down there I am not suppose to and still continue to get this infection! I have had a steady sex partner going on 4 years and he is fine. I am tried of taking the medicine every month for this cause then we cant have sex for a week and a half. Has anyone heard that this can cause infertility over a period of time?

Any help, suggestions (natural possibly) that can help control this bv? Anyone had this same problem and found a way to keep it away?

All help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!! :) I am desperate and will do just about anything to stop this!!!!!

Well I did find a post a little ways down the board...But no one really described their regimen for getting rid of it in detail enough for me to try it.

Here is what I have done so far:
i got off birth control just three weeks ago. I had 1 occurence after that and just had sex for the first time since I finished another dose of the meds and we'll see what happens. (crossing my fingers)

i bought the acidophilus but never really stuck to taking it everyday so I dont know if that will *cure * it.

I bought this other vitamin for vaginal problems and have taken it as directed for like a week but have still got the infection. And now I am not taking that.

I have had the flagyl, the pills and neither seem to work. Matter of fact my doc gave me 3 refills of the cream stuff and says there is nothing really I can do for this.

I am not giving up hope, there has got to be something somewhere that will work for me!

Sorry so long......

Talk to your doc and let her/him know just how uncomfortable and frustrated you are!I had a real problem with yeast and bacterial vaginosis about 10 years ago.I went on a yeast free diet for a few weeks. It was a real pain in the neck, but it did help me greatly.I would get a yeast infection, that would get treated and turn into bac vag,the antibiotics would trigger another yeast infection and the circle would continue.I read about this book-i think it was called "the yeast connection".It was very helpfuli was on this diet for about 4 weeks and it was very helpful in breaking the cycle.Also-probitics(replaces all the natural bacteria in your system) were very helpful. You can get them at any vitamin store or healthfood store.Good luck,i know this is very frustrating and uncomfortable for you.

Bacterial vaginosis occurs when all the bacteria in your vagina has been eliminated. It is almost like the opposite of a yeast infection(thrush)there needs to be a balance of beinficial bacteria in your system for good health.Live yogurt is a good way to replace that bacteria, but it will not cure the problem. It needs to be treated by a doctor.

I'm so glad I found this forum. For over a year I have been dealing with this. I thought something was wrong with me because it keeps coming back. And my doctor told me it is hard to clear up. (i thought he was a nut) after taking the medicine it usually comes back in a couple of weeks. It was driving me nuts because I thought I must not be doing something right. I'm glad to see i'm not the only one having this problem. I have a doctor's appointment today and i'm going to bring up a lot of this stuff. I'm afraid he's going to try and give me something stronger to take. The last stuff he gave me made me so tired that I could hardly function. Ahhhhh!
