Can Someone Please Give Me Some Advice... Posted: 01-21-05 23:09pm
I am almost 16 years old and I just found
out that I am about 10 weeks pregnant, my
boyfriends whole family knows becuase they
say it's obvious, but my parents have no
idea. I do not know how to tell them.
Another thing I ws wondering was about how
all of you girls set up your first doctors
appointment, I am sort of scared to do it
on my own and I just need some advice. I
am just scared and confused.... Please
write back. Mahalo!!!

The best way to tell them is to just go
ahead and do it. Most often, your fear
of their reaction tends to be contradicted
by their love of you. Parents most often
do love their children and try to be
supportive regardless of the situation.
Think back on how they have reacted in the
past when you were in various kinds of
trouble where you needed support, and most
likely that is what will happen this time
as well.
That would also mean that your parents can
help you with a lot of stuff, such as
setting up that visit with the doctor.
Otherwise, ask your regular doctor who no
doubt can help you.

You need to go ahead and tell your parents
before somebody else tells them. Plus
you will have your mom to help with the
doctor's appointment. But if you don't
want your mom to help with the doctor's
appointment. Most of the time at a free
clinic there is someone there who can help
you with that.

If you dont have money for your medical
bills, you can get on access.
You will have to go to your access office
and tell them your pregnant,
then they will ask for proof,
so you will have to go to the womens
health center,
and they will give you a test,
if positive thell give you a paper that
says your estimated due date,
then you take it back to the access
office,
they will have you fill out some papers,
get you a appontment to see if you
qualify,
if you do, you pick your health plan, and
make an appointment.
Youll have to wait a couple weeks till you
get your ins card in the mail.
And access will tell you to go to wic if
you want to get it,
((thats so you can get free milk, cheese,
cereal, and peanut butter,))
it seems like alot of stuff, I was
overwhelmed with running around, but its
all worth it in the end. Good luck to
you!!

If your scared of seeing the doctor on
your own for the first time, take a
supportive friend with you. I took my
best friend with me to my first doctors
appointment.
