I visited a community clinic doctor (i
have no insurance currently) about this
today and he told me it was most likely a
virus I caught, but that if my temperature
rises or I have any other symptoms again,
to come back.
2 days ago, I slept over at a friend's and
woke up about 4 am to get something to
drink, as my mouth was dry. I walked
into the kitchen, no lights were on - I
could still see about. I got a glass of
apple juice, sat down and I immediately
became dizzy, starting sweating, I could
hear the fan noise muffle out and I just
sat there trying to tough this spell out,
it was very scary. The fan noise then
came back in clear, I tried drinking the
juice but everytime I lifted the glass I
felt a little worse and wasn't really able
to drink it. Within probably 5 minutes
this spell passed. I went to the
bathroom and noticed I had diarrhea,
nothing uncontrollable but I took care of
it and it didn't last long either. I
noticed that day I was kinda lethargic
over the day and didn't feel my best, but
not terrible. I even imagined this exact
spell would happen, and it did.
This same thing also happened last year in
august, only at my home, but it was worse.
I did however, come home from this same
friend's house the night before. At that
time, I tried some smirnoff with koolaid,
didn't like it and didn't drink much at
all. This time (2 days ago) I had
nothing alcoholic. What I can note is
that in both times this spell has
happened, I didn't have much to eat.
Several people have advised me to get my
blood sugar and blood pressure checked.
I asked the doc today about this and he
said there shouldnt' be much to worry
about this yet. He asked if anyone in my
family is diabetic, and I said no one in
my immediate family that I am aware. At
least not on my father's side, who I live
with. My mother's mother is diabetic
though, and I believe my mother's father
is too.
Doc did advise drinking water, as I told
him I don't get much plain water albeit in
coffee or green tea. He said these
drinks were fine as long as I didn't drink
too much of them. (i sometimes have a
pot a day or every other day, it varies).
The nurse who came in before the doc took
my blood pressure, it was a bit high I
think, I don't remember what the readout
was but she said it was probably from just
being there, my first time, nervousness
etc. The doc also said the nodes in my
neck were a bit 'shoddy', but nothing to
worry about and not tender.
I've seen a range of topics on dizzy
spells but not with all these other
symptoms I had. It is a very scary thing
to experience, and I was hoping if anyone
with experience in such a case might be
able to shed some light. Thanks.

Well, it's been a few months. I suppose
no one has any other insight, or has
experienced such an episode?

I am 37 years old, have had dizzy spells
for the past year. My family physician is
trying to find out why. So far my
cholesterol levels are out of range. Had
an overnight oximetry done but haven't
received the results yet. I recently went
through some hormone treatment but have
been off for the past 6 months. I had a
bad reaction to them (migrianes,breast
problems, and emotional problems)and
decided I was better off without. My
doctor has me on vitamens, fish oil,
aspirin, calcium, and a rx for meclizine
for my dizziness. I suppose he was
treating me for anemia, vitamen
deficiency, and/or vertigo as my cause for
dizzy spells. I've experienced no change
in a month of taking all. I'll keep you
informed if I find anything out. (also am
a light smoker, but am having difficulty
quitting)

I have had some dizzy spells at one point
I had passed out and couldn't tell you
what day it was or even who the president
was. I went to my doctor's office and
with in a couple of weeks I was seeing the
cardioligest and they did a tilt table
testing. The test showed up positve for
nuerocardiogenicsyncyope. I have been on
a medication that has a beta blocker in it
to control my migrains and blood pressure
problem I had. You might to ask the doc.
If they could do a tilt table test. It's
the world most boring test I can tell you
that. It last about 1/2 hour.

I could be writing your post! Posted: 05-19-08 01:30am
I've had similar incidents as you
describe. I had 4 or so in 2003/4 then
they stopped until 2 weeks ago. I've had 3
incidents in 2 weeks. I always have severe
abdominal pain with the other symptoms.
Did you ever get a diagnosis? Did you ever
have more incidents?
I've been to the ER 3 times and they never
find anything wrong with me. At first I
thought they were panic attacks but they
don't fit my typical panic attack
symptoms.
I'm so frustrated that no one can tell me
what's wrong so I can treat it!
