Sorry If i'm hijacking this forum =[

But i am 16 years old, Last time i was 120 lbs i dont know what i weigh now/currently. I am 6"2'. I look like a stick, My friends even think so. When i go to school I wear Sweaters because well i'd say im ashamed of how my weight is standing. I take vitamin pills. I eat ALOT. But it dont look like i do. Some weight gaining would be great! but i guess it's my metabolism. i wonder if i can bypass it somehow.

How about you explain to me exactly what you've been eating.

Yes there is a way you can gain weight. Subscribe to a gym and do weight training. I had the same problem exactly like yours and at your same age and decided to go a gym and I gained about 25 pounds in one year. I was very happy I did that!! And I enjoyed the gym very much. Wish I could now but I have no time. Bodybuilding is the way to do it.

Good luck!

I think a guy of your height should be at least 160-180 for a healthy weight. It depends on your build and your BMI. You are still growing, so a lot of what you eat might be going to that.

I think diet is your main concern here though. Even if your thinness could be attributed to a high metabolism or thyroid, the food that you eat isn't helping at all. Soda depletes your system of vitamins. I glad that you realize that everything you listed up there is basically junk food. These things metabolize quickly and basically give you a high on no hunger and energy and do nothing for you.

Definitely look at options for a healthier diet. Whole grains will definitely help you gain weight in a healthy way. You would do well to eat lots of lean meats, but make sure you keep lots of fruits and veggies in there too because you don't want to become constipated of vitamin deficient.

Of course head to the gym as they suggested too, but you will quickly become weak and not have the energy to build mass if your doing it on a poor diet.

Yes, weight training/bodybuilding will help. Also, you should eat less junk food and eat more hearty foods like veggies, whole grains, and meat (fish, chicken, beef, eggs all beats the junk food ur eating now). That will make you gain a lot of weight! Smile Also, if you have a fast metabolism, try eating 5 small meals a day instead of 3 normal meals

Re: i feel u
It doesn't matter what you eat when your metabolism is that much fast. I always eat healthy food and was unable to gain weight no matter what.

How the gym works:

To gain weight is low reps - heavy weight
To loose weight is higher reps - moderate weight

When I weighted 109 pounds I was able to do a bench press of about 15 pounds, after a year I was able to bench press about 60 pounds. You better believe my chest grew to lift this amount. Gosh I think even my bobbies grew lol! So you see this is how it works. With going to the gym you will be more hungry and you will eat more naturally. I never took protein supplements or anything just normal food and I gained the weight just fine.

Well, you gained weight because muscle weighs more so that makes perfect sense. And its not just eating healthy foods. You need to make an effort to eat only foods that will help you. That and weight training would help gain plenty of weight.

And Ukarion, I was going to explain what was wrong with your diet but everyone else beat me to the punchline. I had the same problem so thats the only reason I asked. Eating healthy and making better choices will help you gain weight. Try only having one pop a day and drink gatorade or something instead too.

SNACK like crazy. But snack on trail mix or anything with peanut butter. Very little junk food.

Sorry for asking too many questions but,

Will It help my weight if i did At home exercises? Like push ups and sit ups hip thrusts and stuff like that? Or do I have to hit the gym? I am very scared and nervous to go to the gym. Because I am uber skinny. and if i had money and i was at a good age (16) to work for the money then i would of gotten a personal trainer. I weighed myself and I'm only 140 lbs

thank you, guys Smile Really appreciate it Smile

I remember you were 120lbs when you first posted this forum? Great job on gaining 20 lbs! The home exercises you described will just improve muscle tone, I doubt they'll make you bigger. However, if you did jump squats instead of hip thrusts and clapping pushups instead of pushups, you'll get bigger. Pullups (with an overhand grip, not an underhand grip) and 1-handed pushups will also make you bigger

Ya, home exercises will probably help you move weight to your arms/legs instead of belly

I've got the same problem. I'm beginning to think I'm cursed to forever look like I'm malnourished Very Happy

When I figure something out, I'll let you know. For now, lift and do your weights. You'll gain muscle and that will help. Congrats by the way, that’s really exciting that you’ve gained so well!

I've been doing them for quite a while now.

Only I'm not a fan of clapping pushups and one arm pushups hurt in a way that isn't very constructive. I'd be happy to plan a mini workout with you and do them together Very Happy

ha ha. Nice. If you don't mind me asking, How are the results? are you seeing any changes? Not trying to say that it might not work but just seeing how it is working for others. Smile

I don't do the push up stuff. I lift weights normally, however I haven't been able to get to a weight room because of work. Doing this with you will help me get more motivated to do workouts at home that I KNOW I can do. My motivation begins normally when I get to the weightroom or pool otherwise I'm at my computer. So this will certianly help me.

During swim season I get muscles that are pretty toned when I flex, my arms and legs look bigger because there's muscle. So we'll get toned together if you're ok with it.

I think when we decide on what we want to do we should post it in fitness, that way maybe some others can join in if they want. I'll even leave put a message in women's chat. Sound like a good idea?

Monday sound good?

Just PM me any ideas you have for things we can do.
I don't want it to go over a half hour a day, so maybe ever few weeks we can change our mini workout.
