In my opinion you can eat anything.
Modern medical & dietary advice no
longer insist on strict low purine diet
for gout patients, because:
1) strict low purine diet can lower
the blood uric acid level by only about 1
mg/dl, whereas uric acid lowing drugs can
lower it by 2.5~3 mg/dl.
2) once you have gout, it becomes
questionable how useful can the lowering
of 1 mg/dl of uric acid in the blood be in
preventing gout attacks.
3) 80~98% of people who have high
blood uric acid level (>7mg/dl) do not
have gout in their life time.
To me, overemphasis on low purine diet is
detrimental to prevention and treatment of
gout because:
1) it detracts gout patients from
paying attention to other more useful
things they can do for gout.
.
2) strict low purine diet often
causes mental stress on gout patients.
It is well known that mental stress is
a strong gout trigger.

treatment of gout can be found in section
